Where is the Renegauge made? Seems kinda expensive, and the dual pistons seem kind of V3-ish.

I don't have an opinion on the 940.

I wonder is the 940 stock is compatible with the 930, and if the lop can get down to 12.5/13" without much fuss.

I'm sure that the Savage will function well, but I doubt it will sell well. Savage makes good guns, but for that price, I can get a top tier Benelli or Beretta. Unless it does something monumentally better than a Benelli or Beretta, it's going to face tough competition. I was thinking/hoping it would be priced closer to the Remington11-87 and Mossberg 930 lines. In that case, I think it would eat a fair amount of the market.

Howcome Savage rifles while well designed, always look "ugly" relative to the classic lines of most other American manufacturers. Mossbergs used to look ugly i.e. the 4x4 rifle, zombie 30-30 etc, but they finally hired some marketing/sales people and are doing great now. I get that they're trying to look modern (even futuristic) and appeal to the younger crowd that meets their price point, but it looks cheap and jarring to the eye. Like if they just put a plain old synthetic tupperware stock for half the price at MRSP it'd sell like cupcakes. Or sell at current MSRP with AA fancy walnut with cut checkering and it'd sell.

I don't see me dropping $1500 on a first ever Savage made modern auto. Heck, that's in Benelli territory. Or three or four good used 1100s.

I have (and used) a 930 JM PRO back when I competed in 3 gun. It was about $500 IIRC. Great gun for what it is designed for. I'm sure the 940 is a great gun too- but remember that those running it in the video are "advanced users." As with most things, its more the user than the equipment.
