Twice within the the last few days, I have read mention of changing recoil springs to lessen orbital launch of fired brass.

I am assuming a stiffer spring is the answer. Am I correct?

Is this a broom handle Mauser? Changed the main spring on mine a few months ago, didn't notice any difference on where it flings brass. It did help with felt recoil.

Yes, Broomhandles and Tokarevs. I usually shoot at an indoor range and I have had brass 15'-20' behind me. Loss rate is about 30%.

Wolff shows only Standard and +10% recoil springs for Mauser, nothing but standard for Tokarev. Maybe some other spring like Colt or Browning could be made to work.

But if you are concerned about brass loss, you must be reloading.
OK, put in less gunpowder. A reduced load that just barely functions the action will not throw empties as far.

I was thinking of either the 10% stronger spring or the complete spring kit from Wolff.
Your suggestion of pared down charges will probably help. I usually load mid-range loads, especially for the Brooms. I can try some beginning loads and see if the helps. Thanks.
