Indoor ranges not allowing steel or aluminum ammo.

That is the deal with my indoor range. They only care about steel core ammo. I know for a fact they reload (or have them reloaded somewhere) the cases to sell as range ammo. No big deal to me, it keeps their costs down. They aren't strict at all about casings. I have been to ranges where if it hits the ground, it cannot be picked up. If you want to keep your casings or be a range rat and scarf them up, it is allowed. With one caveat: don't go ahead of the firing tables to get brass.

I got my wife kicked out of Bristle Cone shooting center here in Colorado. We had recently bought her a S&W shield and she needed to shoot it so we go to the new indoor range. I didn't shoot because I wanted it to be about her that day so I never read the range rules required to shoot there.
After she shoots a couple boxes of Ammo I asked if she would like to compare 9mm to 40. She says yes so I head out to the truck and get my Glock 22 and a couple mags of steel cased blaster ammo.
She goes back to her shooting lane and shoots about 4 rounds and all hell breaks loose. She was kicked out of the range. No warning just get your things and get out LOL.

speed 66, you have never been out west i can see. the average ranch size in my county is 10,000 acres or bigger. in the next county very close to me it is 100,000 acres or bigger. what other who/s are you talking about. when ive replyed i live rural i mean rural. i look out my windows and see mostly rolling hills and grass, some wheat fields but rare. 14 miles as the crow flies is ted turners ranch. it is in the millions of acres. many people who live rural think rural means 1 acre lots. out here rural mean a whole other thing. it means rural.

I was thinking more in terms of the shooters shooting each other, not someone in the next county.

I've been out west many times, just don't know anyone with ranches bigger than counties back east. lol

I'm in the Charlotte nc area. Been to four ranges in the area. One said when brass hits the floor it's theirs. I didn't shoot there ever. All others enforce a magnet check for the reasons already mentioned.

I have no issues with the rules when presented up front.

go to cherry co. ne. my daughter used to date a rodeo cowboy from cherry co. his dads drive way is 7 miles long. he owns the land long before you get to his driveway. im sure texas and montana have ranches like that. how about the pine ridge reservation. hundreds of thousands of acres of nothing but grass and pines. ted turners ranch close to me, millions of acres. their are still places called rural in this country.
