I'm looking for a budget 223 bolt gun, threaded barrel required, and both of the rifles above are in my price range.

If anyone has experience with accuracy of these two platforms, or suggestions for any other that are in the $350 - $450 range with a 22"+ threaded barrel, I'd appreciate the feedback.

I have shot both. The Ruger had the better trigger of the ones that I had. I like the Mossbergs too, but the Patriot doesn't come in 223. CVA has a new rifle out called the Cascade that I haven't tested yet. Looks on par with Compass.

Thanks for the info. Accuracy-wise are the Compass and Ruger equal?

My 223 Rem RARP is easily my most accurate rifle. It shoots an average sub-MOA in over 291 rounds using various projectiles and powders and loadings at 100 and 300 yds. Not very picky at all. It's a keeper. I've not shot the Compass, but have heard good things about it.

I have a T/C Venture that I bought about 7 years ago, in .223. I paid about 400.00 for it NIB. I, like it, it really shoots well.

I have a RAR predator in 6.5 CM and a ranch model suppressed in 300 blk. They are both amazing rifles. In 223, I have a suppressed Mossberg MVP thunder ranch model. Another very accurate and amazing rifle that uses AR mags.
