Luckily this gentleman had a handgun for self-defense....goes to show you why people are in a gun buying panic. This gentleman opened his door to them expecting landscapers and they looked the part.

This is crazy. From the article:

"Finnan told investigators after his arrest that Brodacz claimed he saw $200,000 cash in boxes in the home 20 years ago and believed the money was still there, the paper reported."

Lived near that area for 20 years. I'd consider it to be a solid middle-to-upper-middle-class area with pockets of very expensive real estate.

Bottom line is that this could happen anywhere.
Unless there are drugs or drug money involved, I wouldn't think doing a home invasion in a poor neighborhood would make sense.

Knowing Illinois from living here my whole life, they'll probably find a way to charge the homeowner with something. And, the local news station will interview one of the perps' mom/wife/baby momma to find out just how good of a person they were and wouldn't hurt anybody.

Video didn't work for me.

Funny thing was I was at my part time job a few weekends ago and when I come back from break I was informed someone was in the parking lot shooting at each other. I took it with a grain of salt and walked outside just to check and low and behold the local PD had swarmed the neighborhood. I called dispatch and advised them customers saw both suspects fleeing behind our store and I was told they were only looking for one black male, black hoodie, black hat and a dust mask on. I thought to myself that's over half the people I saw today while working. Seems these "coronavirus masks" are being used in criminal ways and not just helpful ways. I absolutely hate seeing people come into the store with bandana's or other things covering their face.

You better have a very good reason for being at my door. It is 500 ft off the road and through a fence and a locked gate.
Alrighty then.

You come up with a mask on and that 500 ft walk may not be pleasant.
Half the people I saw yesterday were wearing masks.

A defendant's having posted such sentiment in a searchable public forum can tip the scale when reasonable people examine what evidence can be gathered after a use of force incident.

Several states and DC have laws against wearing masks in public, although they generally include intent. Canada passed theirs in 2013, and based on intent, the sentence can be up to 10 years according to Wiki.
