This is a Colt New Service, made in 1906. I got it for cheap because it had been reblued and over-buffed. As-issued, it had a 7 1/2" barrel with a front sight about as thick as a razorblade and a rear sight to match. It shot accurately -- but about a foot high and 18 inches to the left. After many adventures, I said, "To hell with it!" I trimmed the barrel back to 5 1/2", put on adjustable sights and put on Herrett Shooting Master grips. Colt new service.jpg

I like it, including the grip. I have a Colt 1917 that's been reblued and the front sight altered. Your project gives me some ideas.

I like the whole package: shorter barrel, new sights, and those fine looking Herrett grips! Those grips appear to be very comfortable to shoot with. I'm curious though about the rear sight; what did you use and how did you mount it to the top strap?

That's from a Smith and Wesson auto pistol, and it's mounted with screws through the top strap.
