Glock changing their model line up?

Guns are "durable goods". Apart from the occasional new buyer or PD rookie, their only real source of sales is convincing you that your old gun or other brand is inferior and you need the New and Improved.
My 17-1 is on long term loan, the 17-4 I bought when I wanted to try GSSF is not an improvement and may be inferior.
If this is how the gun shop that you shop at operates, you should find another place to shop.
I tend to put most guns into two categories, tools and fun.
Tools are for work and getting a job done, this would be a duty, home defense or EDC. Fun would be the ones for sports, hunting and just fun at the range. Sometimes a gun can be used for both.
I buy guns because they are different and I like a lot of different guns.
Here are most of my striker fire, polymer frame pistols. I have a M&P9 M2.0, Gen3 19 and a G48 that are not in the pic.
As you can see, there are a few different Glocks.

To the OP. Go to the gun shop and check out the different Glocks to find the one you like the best, and then buy it.

Admittedly, I read the OP and kind of rolled my eyes at the “OMG Gen 4 is going away” nature of the screen-shot from the LGS. However, I had some time to waste last night and could night find a G19.4 at any of my usual online gun stores with the exception of Grabagun who has a few overpriced Trump models. Hmmm .

Of course, it could be a supply/demand issue in our current state of affairs in America.

YUP, This isn't the best time to look for any HG, particularly one as popular as the G19/4..BUT If it's on Glock's website, they are still made...

BUT..ultimate YMMV..one son has a G17/5, other has a G45..I have a G17/4..I prefer the finger grooves..

Production cost on them must be trifling, they will probably keep making Gen 4 until the tooling wears out or they need the room for Gen 6 or mass production of Glock 46 or some such novelty. And they have to make Gen 3 for California since they are too money driven to take the Barrett Pledge.

We Glock owners usually hate the current gen for about 2 gens and then we like to say that the old Gen was the best Gen. So for a Gen 4 to be good again, we need to see the Gen 6. I’ve got a few years before my 5 is good.

yea this sounds about right. Everybody’s darlings at the present time are the gen. 3s:D

I'm betting that there won't be a gen6 Glock, or major new designs for a while, from anybody. Whatever new design they had on paper, or made into prototype, is in a garbage can burning right now.

Back to the drawing boards. Here's the new benchmark design that companies are going to need to figure out how to copy, or compete with:

That pistol has been out for over a year. The sticker price is more then most are willing to pay. Also, it doesn’t seem that anyone is in a hurry to copy the design.

I picked up a Glock 48 the other week and now I’m thinking about buying another Glock. I’m not sure which one, maybe the Ninja Glock.

My point exactly. Any real pistol company could chop it's price in half or more. I see a $2000 pistol, not a $6000 one.

And I wouldn't be advertising right now, that I'm coming up with something 180 degrees from our current lineup, while our manufacturing plants are at max capacity due to another panic.

Dealers in US and Canada show "sold out" but did any really make it to North America and is that just a place holder?
I mean if bac1023 hasn't had something exotic and expensive on his rug, it is probably not available.

Eh. Seems like Glock couldn't care much less about what the competition is doing, and that most changes come down to cost reduction or meeting contractual requirements.

I hope Gen4 isn't discontinued. I've let insane rabid Glockniks chase me away from the whole line, except it seems like a Gen4 without a backstrap fits me almost as well as a 43+ or 48.

As for the next gen, don't forget about the 46.

Well, I don’t know what Glock or any other manufacturer is doing and they really don’t tell because not only would it be bad business it would be stupid business. Gun store clerks don’t have crystal balls and if they did they would corner the markets on guns they know would skyrocket in price if discontinued, like Browning Hi-Powers.

Glock would be stupid to drop Gen 3 guns because those are the only ones that can be sold as new in California. California is a huge market for them.

i’m not touching that one, LOL

As a correction, the Gen3’s are the only Glocks that can be sold new or used to a non-LEO in Cali, unless you do a private party transfer with someone who legally owns a Gen4 or 5 in the state. Although ol’ Gaston has plenty of money in his old age, and a young blond wife to help him count it & spend it, Glock will keep cranking out the Gen3’s in all the calibers since they do sell a lot of guns here in the land of fruits & nuts.

WOW! My 2nd generation is awesome now!

Right now there is such a run on Gen 4 and 5 Glocks that I doubt they have any motivation to do anything but crank them out as fast as possible. Check what is currently available from a major dealer like Bud's and you can see there is no need to update anything.

They are available at Ninja Glock stores only, but you have to be a Ninja to be able to find the store.;)

And if any Glock Ninja did tell you were the store was, then they would have to kill you. So do you really want a Glock Ninja that bad?
Besides, The ATF does not want any citizens owning any gun that create it's own typhon.

For God sake man, the world is having a hard enough time just trying to figure out Climate change.

So you want someone to think outside the box, design something new, and sell for peanuts?

Do you want to pay $6000 for something that can be manufactured for $500.

Just copy it, as everyone has copied Glock. It's already been created. And it's clearly the future, if it's the least bit reliable. First companies to make their own versions will have the market cornered for a while.

Why? Low bore axis? Sure, gamers will like that but will everyone need one?

Doubt it, plenty of popular gun brands and models now have high bore axii and nobody seems to care over much, not enough to only buy CZ or Glock or whatever.

Is it cool? Yeah. Will it be copied? Almost certainly, in Turkey if nowhere else -- they copy everything. Will it destroy and corner the market? I don't think so, at least not for a long while.

I remember hearing this same kind of talk with the modular pistols from Sig, and every new wundercaliber yet the boring old standbys keep selling like hotcakes.
