Mr.T that is a thing of beauty!!!
That's a nice combination! I think the shorter barreled 41 mag would be a little nicer to handle. The 7.5" 41 has got tobe a nice shooter!!!I have two, both with 7.5” barrels:
a .41 Magnum Redhawk

and a .454/.45 Super Redhawk.

I’d like a .41 with the 5.5” barrel, the long tube is a bit unwieldy to me. I’ll be searching high and low for one soon.
Stay safe.
That 7.5 in 41 mag is my unicorn. Looked for a couple years finally settled on my 44 mag. Walk in to a gun store employee what are you looking for 7.5 in Ruger blackhawk or redhawk in 41 mag. They just throw there hands up and say goodluck.I have two, both with 7.5” barrels:

I found mine as an orphaned stepchild that was languishing in a police-oriented gun store a few years back. Apparently the previous owner was convicted of spousal assault (among other crimes) and he was ordered by the Court to surrender his firearms. Instead of turning them in to the police to be melted into rebar, he got the Judge to agree to let him turn them over to be consignment-sold through this store. That 7.5 in 41 mag is my unicorn. It must be a Ruger thing. I've found all of my redhawk and Blackhawks (with the exception of 2 old 3 screws) not at all accurate. Pleasing to the eyes though. My vintage .357-

It really not that accurate, or practical unless youre into hand-loading crazy hot .357 loads, but Im fond of it nonetheless.
Well IIRC, the 357/44 Bain & Davis gave 357 Max performance in lower pressure and regular magnum sized case, albeit a bottleneck one.I bought a 6.5" Blackhawk because I couldn't find one of those. Still searching for the 'proper' Redhawk for my taste. Might end up having a Bain & Davis cylinder made for said Blackhawk.
I hope I can get lucky. I will never stop looking. Might take a few more years. But it will come. Just have to have patience. This gun was in great shape. It had sat there on the wall unbought for about two months before I saw it. Clearly none of the younger-generation police officer customers that frequent the place knew what it was, they were there for the latest striker pistol or maybe a 1911.
I had bought a practically brand-new and unmarked CZ 550 in 6.5x55 with a Leupold scope for $450 from the same seller about two months earlier (the tag said $700). When I bought that rifle I spied the .41 with a $650 tag on it...but I didn’t have the $$ to buy both.
For fun I called them two months later and it was still there, so I drove over and made a $325.00 offer. The manager said no one who looked at it even knew what a .41 Magnum was, so I got it for that price. (Again, the customer base there had no idea what gems they were looking at!)
Sometimes you just get lucky .

None of my Ruger revolvers is particularly accurate. And I know its not me because I can set down the Ruger, pick up a Smith and nail the 10 ring with all other factors- range, ammo, temp, humidity, target, etc- being the same. I suppose my hand/grip interface could be to blame and the S&Ws just fit me better. Either that or the Rugers cylinder bores are drilled off-axis. I understand this has been an ongoing issue with Ruger for years. It must be a Ruger thing. I've found all of my redhawk and Blackhawks (with the exception of 2 old 3 screws) not at all accurate. You make an excellent point. My Dads Blackhawk and my now long-gone Single Six were quite precise. Ive only experienced (relatively) mediocre accuracy from their DA offerings. YMMV, of course.I have a pic somewhere from my first time shooting my 357 Blackhawk. The last 3 shots landed in about a half dollar size group at 25 yds.
I need to shoot it some more.
I saw a 4.2” .44 mag Redhawk at a new gun retailer/Pawn Shop up in Victorville Ca today that usually has a big stock of new and used guns of all stripes in their racks. The Redhawk had a tag that read $920.00 firm .
There were only about 6 other new guns in the handgun case, all their pawn/used guns were gone.
I guess that’s the “new normal” for now due to the ‘rona...upper end pricing on everything and no deals on handguns, even the big bore magnums that aren’t your typical “defense” gun in the eyes of most new buyers.
Stay safe.
I have to agree. My single six and single ten are both impressive. The rest of the SA/DA revolvers are sub par.You make an excellent point.
