This may seem silly, and probably is, but I find myself drawn more and more to certain bore sizes.

My first centerfire rifle was a .270 and I now have a 6.8spc and am always looking at other .277 caliber chamberings. I will at some point have a .277 mag and likely a .277 wolverine as well.

In handguns, my first was a .357 mag and I have reloaded for it since I got it. The bore on that gun was .351 so it ate a whole bunch of 9mm FMJ and JHP bullets, and I now find myself with 2 .357s, 2 .380s, 2 9mm, and 4 38spl guns, all shooting 9mm bullets with acceptable accuracy. Stepping ever so slightly away I also have antique S&W revolvers in 38sw, shooting what few .358 lead bullets I have acquired over the years. I keep looking at .357 max, 350 legend, etc as well.

Another pistol caliber, 32swl grew on me quickly as I found out how nice recoil was, how accurate they can be, inexpensive to shoot, etc. I now have a modern S&W, an antique S&W, RG31 (grandmas, the one that started me down the 32 rabbit hole) Taurus 327, Mauser 1914, Walther pp, and am constantly CONSTANTLY looking at various 32 caliber pistols and revolvers. I’m even considering another S&W model 10 or m&p 32-20 to chop and swap to be my version of a K32 since I will never buy one of those collectors pieces.

Same with shotguns, I really like a 12 and 20 for their own purposes, but my shotgun love just goes straight to the 16ga, especially in black powder guns.

SOoooo....

Do you find yourself drawn to certain calibers? It’s not necessarily a reloading thing, I just find satisfaction in the diversity of a junk of metal of a specific size doing a great number of things and doing them well.

I too, find myself drawn to the 16 ga shotgun. I guess my purchase of a Browning Auto5 Sweet Sixteen started that!
With rifles it was the 6.5 mm until the 6.5 CM craze took hold. Nowadays it is the 6mm/.243 stuff me likes.
In handguns I am specifically interested in the .44 Special. Not just .44 caliber holes, the .44 Special. The .44 Special seems such a nice balance between power, bullet diameter, accuracy and just plain pleasant to shoot. I am still questioning my sanity for selling my 2nd generation Colt SAA .44 Special to ApacheCoTodd... :scrutiny:

There’s nothing to question other than if sanity has returned, but it’s OK, we all have fits of lunacy followed by years of scratching our heads wondering what we were thinking. I suspect that to be a big cause of male pattern baldness...probably a close second to raising kids.

6.5. I got my first, a 6.5 Rem Mag, about 15 years ago. I now have about 15 firearms in that caliber All but one have taken at least 1 deer. My 260 Rem pistol will hopefully join the rest this year.

I need intervention.

Never was attracted to bore size---always was attracted to specific firearms---S&W N frames (any caliber would do) and 1911s (again any caliber) make me happy.
I like this answer. The firearm itself does it for me. Then I adapt and buy a set of dies and components.

That said, there are some calibers that are more appealing to me. .357 mag and .44 mag being the top two. 38 specials and 44 specials are pleasant target shooters, with the ability in certain firearms to go magnum.

With rifles, I'm drawn to .30 cals. I know there is "better" bores out there. But I'll stick to my
.30-06's, .308 wins, 300 win mag.

I've always had a sweet spot for the. 270 since my first one in 1978. That's my huntin' rifle. As for handguns it is the 45LC although I only have one. But I do have 2 levergun in that caliber and a 45-70 being made for me by C Sharps.

I was 6.5, when 6.5 wasn’t cool.
I was .35, when .35 wasn’t cool.
I was 28 gauge, when 28 gauge wasn’t cool.
I was 10mm, when 10mm wasn’t cool.
I’ve recently become Hi Power, after Hi Powers weren’t cool...

Hell, I’m just, plain cool!!!

Two .308 bolts, one .45 Colt lever, one 6.8 AR, one .22 bolt, one .50 ML, one 12 ga O/U, one 45-70 Shiloh (on order), three USFA .45 Colt revolvers, three .45 ACP 1911 and two 9mm CZ 75 family.
No rhyme or reason, no special caliber draw but some patterns - all old school and all perform as advertised. What a great Country!

5.56mm and 7.62mm in rifles, 12 &16 ga. in shotguns, and .45 ACP in handguns. Could be the Army's influence. (not the shotguns, that's from duck & pheasant hunting)

I have 14 10mm pistols, so...Yes!!

I’m in a similar boat!

Even since the first 10mm, the Bren Ten, I was buying every new 10mm pistol that came out. In the last 6-7 years I had to slow down and be more selective. I just can’t afford
them all!

‘Here’s an old school one you don’t see everyday.

Me too. .260 Remington and .260 Ackley Improved.

I'm also drawn to 7mm: 7x57, 7mm-08, 7mm SAUM, .280 Rem, .280 Ackley, and 7mm Rem Mag all in the fold ... although my plan is to have my smith punch the 280 Rem out to another 280 AI.

As far as handguns go, .357s and .44s (.429) dominate.

I am here to represent the .22 caliber aficionados.

No other bore size is more loved and shot than the wonderful, near perfect .223. (Or .221, or .222. Aww heck, .219, too!)

From rimfire to centerfire. Overbore to smooth bore. Pistols, rifles, air guns and fire sticks.
The oldest and most widely known and loved .22LR to the New Hotness of .22 Creedmoor. From venerable 22-250s to near flops of Valkyrie and Nosler.

Ubiquitous.223 Remington to the obscure .22 Pokey.

It’s been to the prairies, gardens and forests, it sat in trucks and tractors, even fighter and spy planes. It’s been old enough to go to war for awhile now.

From the fine craftsmanship of the Old World, across the pond to the highest of Tech and the most cutting edge of performance.

From classic hunting rifles, to precision benchrest, to tactical automatics.

The past has been the .22, the present is the .22, more rounds of that caliber fired than any other, possibly accomplished by rimfire alone, the future is the .22!

Long live the Double Deuce!

Hell, I’m just, plain cool!!!

Darn straight! And doing it before any good bullet technology made it worthwhile!

:p:D

45anything .45/45acp Blackhawk ,45/45acp Redhawk ,45/410 Bond arms Texan, 45 Lever action ,460 lever action.I have others but 45 is what I reach for first.
Good for hunting and anything else I need done. The best part I can use the same bullets and powder for all of them.

This was not a plan. It was mostly coincidence (?) that my three 100% German Sigs, Walther P99, CZ PCR were all designed for 9mm.

The guns' reliability, overall quality and DA/SA function were the objectives--not the chambering.
