I have a friend that offered to sell me his never fired SCCY CPX 9mm for $150. He doesn't remember if it's a CPX1 or CPX2. I'm at work so unable to do much research at the moment but the few YouTube videos I've seen have been favorable. And they're selling for more than that right now on Gunbroker from what I saw.

I don't know much about them. Anybody have any experience with this pistol? Or know anybody that does?

I'm leaning towards getting it but wanted to ask here first.

The CPX-1 has a thumb safety, the CPX-2 does not. They are DAO hammer fired, long heavy trigger. I have the CPX-2 variety. It is almost a direct copy of Kel-tec P11. 10 round double stack, very light weight. Mine has been 100% through roughly 300 rounds. It is simple and works, but I consider it a very cheaply manufactured gun. If you can't get something better for another $120 or so, it'll do the job and at that price it's good enough.

If it's second gen it will handle +P in limited amounts. Personally I'd stick with standard 9mm. When I occasionally carried it I fed it speer gold dot 124 grain.

A friend had a CPX-1 and got to shoot it at the range once. The trigger does have a long heavy pull but at the time I had been carrying a .38 Spcl DAO snub so it didn't bother me at all. I didn't shoot badly with it considering it was the first time I had shot one. Can't speak to the long term reliability of the gun though. Unfired for $150, why not?

I have shot my nephew's SCCY, don't know if its the 1 or 2. The trigger was absolutely terrible with a long mushy pull. I start to look at the gun wondering if will actually shoot and it suddenly fires. The pull is so hard the edge of the trigger hurt the pad of my trigger finger.

No SCCY is worth it for any price. If you can, spend more on S&W Shield or Ruger Security 9. Prolly other choices in the budget 9 category that I haven't shot that will be better than a SCCY.

But hey, if you can shoot a box (50 rounds) through it before buying and can deal with how awful the gun is, that's your call.

Its a gun thats smaller than a service pistol. If you have owned anything nicer than a keltec you probably wont find it terribly useful.

Spend your $150 on ammo.

For that price it would be a buy if, and that is the big if, you understand what you are buying. The Co was started by people who worked for George at Kel-Tec so its copied heavily from the old P-11 design. I still have a P-11 in my carry rotation and do like it but, they are certainly not for everyone. They are so light there is a lot of recoil for such a small round. Trigger is on par with a low end DA wheel gun. The ones I have shot worked great. They are a compact, light, 11 round 9mm. So if you can get over the trigger pull that is a good price on it. Especially with how hard it is to buy guns right now. Just have realistic expectations.

I have a CPX2 with nearly 700 trouble free rounds thru it. Not sure about some of the comments here, yes it is a long, heavy trigger pull, but as for mine, it is smooth. Was shooting with a friend who has an HK, he felt that the SCCY triggervwas smoother than that of his HK, at 4x the cost. As far as ammo, mine has shot everything from range reloads to Hornady Critical Defense, 115 grain to 147 grain and never a hiccup. It's definitely an entry level Chevy and not a Cadillac, but it goes bang every time I pull the trigger. For $150, I would buy it in a heartbeat.

Speaking of the famously brutal DAO, SCCY issued a striker-fired version, called DVG-1. In this, they are attempting to repeat the move from P250 to P320 by SIG.

My thoughts exactly

After looking it over and playing with it for a little while I don't really mind the trigger. It's long but not bad in my opinion. And since I haven't ran across any reviews complaining of jamming I went ahead and bought it. As long as it doesn't jam I'd say it's worth it. I wasn't in the market for a pistol but for that price I figured it was worth a shot

I have never shot a Sccy. My sister has one. When she got it I arranged for us to take a little 200 round class together. It did malfunction once or twice early on. One of the instructors put a couple of drops of oil on it. It seem she & her husband didn't clean & lubricate it before the class. After that it was fine. I used to own a P-11 (the gun the Sccy copied). It had a really crappy trigger but once you learned it the little pistol was actually decently accurate. I wound up giving the P-11 to a friend after getting something nicer. I wouldn't have given it to him if I didn't believe it would work. I believe the Sccy pistol most likely work also.

At that price I would have had a hard time passing it up even though I have no need for yet another. Be sure to let everyone know how it goes at the range.

I have a cpx2, but don’t use it much anymore. The trigger pull was plenty long and heavy, but as others have said it was also fairly smooth. I could shoot it well enough, but had issues with the long reset.

Just the way my finger naturally sat on the trigger, if I tried shooting fast the back side of my trigger finger would hit the guard before the reset point. My financial situation improved and I moved on to a carry piece that suits me better.

My wife has one and some friends also have one or two, we did a 500rnd+ torture run, 3 people loading mags and 1 firing, 1 failure to eject and shooter said his fault, limp wrist, 1 failure to fire and with second trigger pull it fired. You can call customer service and if you have a problem they are very helpful, sent me 2 mags when I had trouble with 1. They have a lifetime warranty. The trigger is about as bad as they come. Enjoy it, it is easy and fun to shoot and 9mm ammo is cheap, it doesn't feed 9mm snake shot at all.

I carry something else now as well. But still shoot the SCCY regularly and keep it as a backup .

I kind of considered one of these when looking for something with a higher capacity than my Kel-Tec PF9.

Then, the Taurus G2C came out.. and home.
