Most Underrated Firearm Manufacturer(s)?

I would say Dan Wesson 1911s. Although they are not quite underrated but they do not get enough appreciation for their quality. They are hardly ever being considered among buyers. It may have to do with their price. I have 2 of them and they are top quality.

H&R ? I see some good reviews on the pardner 12ga. pump home defense. I was looking at one at Dunham's for under $200. Didn't seem all that bad. I'm really thinking of picking one up just to have around the house, just in case. Made in China, but for the price??

Agree with this as I was going to say H&R as well. I have two very well made Woodsmen 22lr revolvers that are very high quality. You just don't hear about them very often.

Remington (owned the H&R brand) killed H&R off in 2015.
Brands owned by Remington, that were "integrated" (ie killed off) include:
H&R 2015
Para USA 2015
Bushmaster 2020
DPMS 2020
Tapco 2020
Storm Lake 2020

What is the name of the group that owns Remington? Freedom group? It's my understanding that the freedom group is still having guns made in China using the H & R brand name. H&R pardner shotgun.

In 2015 Freedom Group was renamed Remington Outdoor Company.
H&R did import some guns from China, but I believe that ended around 2015.
The H&R website: https://www.hr1871.com/ hasn't uploaded a product catalog since 2014.
H&R is dead, any new H&R guns you are seeing are old stock.

There are a few h&r pardner shotguns (Factory New) on GunBroker right now. Dicks sporting goods is showing at least two in stock now. Dunham sports near me is showing the pardner in stock. (I did run down to Dunham's to look at it last night and they no longer have it, at least not on the wall. I also thought H&R was gone untill I got to looking and found so many available new.

Three NIB H&R Pardners on GunBroker. There are another two or three that the sellers claim are "new", but being they aren't FFL's those aren't typically what are considered "new guns", but used.

Again, H&R is dead, any new H&R guns you are seeing are old stock.

Anyway, To get back to the subject. I have two H& R's. A shotgun and a revolver. Both at least 30 years old and have never had any problems and shoot great. Hate to see the Name go away. Would like to see Remington or somebody bring it back.

I going to be the Odd man out here and go with something different. The Phoenix HPA22 has got to be one of the most under rated guns I have shot. I spent the last two days shooting them and they never cease to amaze me. The Accuracy is as good as you want to make them. Great trigger, adjustable sights and just runs and runs. To think I just paid $85.00 for my first one 10 years ago. I might sound crazy, but I talk to my guns. And the Phoenix, I keep saying "Dang Dude, You aren't suppose to be this good". For sure they give me a lot of pleasure and great point and shoot skills.

I have long been a fan of Kel-Tec. First one I bought was when the .32 hit. Had to get on waiting list. When first one hit I liked it so much I went back out and got on list for another. Years later being VERY into PCC's bought 2 Sub2000's. Later sold the .40 version, still have the 9mm and love it. Over the years I have had 4 of their pistols and 2 rifles. All of them just worked from day one in the pistols. Both rifles needed break in and then ran non stop as long as I used Glock mags.

I had the opposite experience with mine HP22a. It was an absolute jam-o-matic. Not to mention the process for fields stripping was horrendous. And the 5 thousand (dangerous) "safeties" it had was stupid. It served it's purpose while it was in my battery, but I can honestly say I was happier the day I sold it, than the day I got it.

I am glad your experience was different. Maybe I got a lemon... I know someone else who has a good experience with one.

I bought a S&W M&P 22 compact, and honestly, I'm not blown away by that gun either. I love 22s, but I can't seem to find a good one.

The extra safety issue was a very simple fix. Takes about two minutes. Field stripping was difficult at first, but like anything else, it became second nature. Many YOUTUBE vids out there to show you how. I actually have Two of them and they run like champs and have been for years. In fact had both of them out just a few days ago. I have had mine for about 10 years. I do now have a slight crack in one of them and made a call to Phoenix and they are replacing the entire gun. I also went to purchase another just to have and they are sold out every where. I ended up ordering a Ruger LCP 22. I am hoping it runs as good as the Phoenix. If so, I will be very pleased.
Sorry you had a bad experience, it happens with any gun made. I shoot the Pocket pistols on a very diligent schedule and these have been great trainers. Although heavier than I like. More like a Micro 9mm.

Yeah I disabled 2 of the safeties. The takedown was so bad, that I completely ruined a recoil spring. I had to replace it. I thought it was designed in not the best way. If it consistently worked for me, and was reliable, I might still have it. It was a nice mouse gun.

Diamondback ARs are a surprisingly quality brand! I bought my DB-15 about a year & a half ago and i must say its accurate and hasnt jammed on me with the decent & not so good ammo. i bought it for $450 new.

DB15MZB and i put a Vortex Strikefire II Red Dot, Ruger flip up iron sites & other improvements.

I was worried buying a low dollar AR, but this one has been just fine. i understand they now make pistols, may have to check them out.

Canik gets 100% 5 star reviews all day, but is seems that consumer awareness is moving slower. I think they are the best value "Budget?" guns available. My TP9SF shoots, and is as reliable as my VP9 and PPQ. 3k rounds, not a single malfunction. So underated no, but underappreciated? Probably.

I'm surprised that Kahr hasn't popped up yet. I did see the ' new ' Auto Ordinance mentioned, which is owned by Kahr.

In both cases, the fit and finish are excellent, and the one Costomer Service experience I had was outstanding.

After the last great panic and prices dropped to all time lows, I looked at them a few times. Had no use for another full size, full cap 9mm but, damn the price was hard to not buy one. Nothing but great reviews, buddy who was looking for a house pistol took a look and bought one. He loves it.

Well to be fair, they (AO) get a LOT of bad press from owners. The M-1 clone they make and the long made clone of the Thomson both look great. Sadly they are priced high enough you should expect quality and I keep seeing a lot of people who claim to have bought one saying they were either problems from day one, or complete dumpster fire. It is the only reason I have been real leery of buying one of their M-1 clones. Now obviously they have to turn out a lot of working examples or they would no longer sell but, the number of people claiming they got real problems from them make me leery to say the least.

Firearms manufacturer Remington Arms Co. is preparing to file for chapter 11 protection for the second time since 2018 and is in advanced talks for potential bankruptcy sale to the Navajo Nation, people familiar with the matter said.

As far as underrated= quality for price, I'd say Bersa. They're ALWAYS the budget option when you can't afford a better brand, but most people seem to like the ones they own. And as far as customer service, they once replaced my brother's 380. He kept it in his car under the seat, and that car had a fuel line leak and catch fire. The car burned .
He took it to a shop, they sent it in, and he got a brand new one with no hassle.

I'd say the Filipino 1911's fit in that group. I've got both an Armscor and an ATI, they're nice guns. Not Ed Brown nice, but not a dang thing wrong with either, and we're talking a cheap, basic 1911 in .45 acp with lifetime warranties.

Under the radar, I'd say the Turkish brands, like Sarsmilaz, Canik, Tisas, Girsan etc. People look at them sometimes and get snobby on brand (or country of manufacture), but they're good guns at a very good price.

Along those lines, some of the other European manufacturers. Spain had a bad reputation mostly due to Ruby pistols and Llama's that weren't quite 1911-spec, and that unfairly affected Star and Astra. Those were top-notch guns, I have a few Stars and they're great.
Zastava, a Serbian company, sometimes gets laughed at as cheap. But some of those poking fun might have Zastava-manufactured guns that US brands just imported, such as rifles etc, and never realize how silly they look.
FEG in Hungary, another closed shop, also made nice guns. They sometimes got frowned on because of making unlicensed copies of stuff (Hi Powers, etc). But they were good to go. They made some stuff for Walther.
Somebody mentioned Daewoo... I have a DP 51 I got for cheap. It's great, they just didn't get a good import deal. It's funny that someone would call them crap, then look at a Lionheart, which is just a Daewoo with cerakote.

CZ - Underated for value one gets for the price, they flat just work and work very well.
Keltec - Underated for their forward thinking, they are out in front on a lot of firearm thinking.
Ruger - Underrated for their low cost offerings with a great customer service
Canik - Underrated for value/performance

All in all I think CZ is the most underrated on several accounts.

Definition of under-rated: to underestimate the extent, value, or importance of (someone or something)

CZ? I'm of the opinion that anyone who's been around firearms for more than a minute is familiar with CZ and its quality offerings. For example, don't ever criticize CZs on this forum; we're all fanboys here. As far as value-to-price ration, might want to check the prices of CZ pistols these days, they've been steadily climbing for the past couple of years and most ain't exactly in the "budget" range anymore.

Ruger? Given how many firearms it sells, one suspects American consumers don't under-rate Ruger.

Someone mentioned Dan Wesson 1911s. Is there a better production 1911 on the market? Some of the DWs rival the semi-custom/semi-production offerings of certain well-known 1911 specialists, and DWs sell quickly on the market, so again, who is under-rating DW? Again, huge following of the DWs on this forum and most others.

lsudave nails it. The Filipino 1911s for sure (we don't hear many complaints about, for example, Rock Islands); the Turkish makers are putting out high-quality pistols at Wal-Mart price points; Zastava, FEG, Star, Astra, some favorites of a lot of us that have never gotten much acclaim (well, now that it's gone, people are re-thinking opinions of Star pistols and they seem more popular now than when they were being produced new).
