Hello all
Been scrounging the internet for .300 AAC & .308 winchester brass.
I keep running into Starline and was wondering what you all may think of this product.
The thing they boast of is a thicker wall than standard which they say gives same velocity for less powder.
I am wondering if any negative aspect to this such as hard on dies or what you may think of their claims.
thanks

I use Starline handgun brass and it’s good. Some 38 special Starline brass I bought left a bit to be desired as the length was all over the place but all other calibers have been good. Once I sized them they have been loaded many times and are good and don’t see any difference with dies.
I can’t speak of their claim of velocity for less powder.

Hey "Referman" thank for input.
I believe their "same velocity / less powder" claim stems from thicker case walls leaving smaller ...eh, combustion chamber..
Kind of like using hemi pistons (not really).
BTW... I was a refer mechanic for Penske for a couple of years when I first got out the Army... night shift.

I can't speak about their rifle brass since I haven't used any. I do use Starline 9mm Largo brass and that has been good to go.

I primarily use Starline brass for .308 Win.

Using 165 gr. SST bullets, IMR 4064 powder & WLR primers, I first developed a good load using Winchester brass which is 43.0 gr. However, I only needed 42.3 gr. using Starline brass which produced similar FPS and group results.

I get the what they are saying but just never seen it myself.

I use Starline brass for 308, 6mm & 6.5 Creedmoor and am very happy. With 308 I use the same load as I do with FC brass and can’t tell a big difference. I had to work up new loads for the Creedmoors as I got a little more velocity with the Starline vs Hornady. I think I’m down about .2 or .3 grains but it’s been a while. I think it’s very good for the price.

I have been using Starline rifle brass in my 6.5 Creedmoor for several years now and have been very happy with it. I clean up the flash hole and uniform the primer pocket when I get it and then run from there. Not sure it needs the prep work but I do it anyway just like everything else I do. I have 8-9 loads on the first group I purchased with no issues.

I have not tried Starline's rifle cases yet, but if I need handgun cases and Starline makes it, that is what I buy.

I find the cases are consistent and I can generally get the quantities that I want when I need them.

At least with the handgun cases, I do not see any difference in performance from other cases with my loads

I have starline for my .45 Colt and .45-70 Govt. While I know nothing about the claims made about the thicker brass and less powder same velocity, I can tell you the cases I have are high quality and I lost track of how many times I have reloaded my Colt cases. I have yet to have one split or crack so far. I have zero complaints on the quality.

I have used a bunch of straight-walled pistol brass from Starline, and also 223 brass from them - no complaints. I've even re-formed some straight-wall to bottleneck and they did quite well. All good brass as far as I'm concerned.

I really like Starline brass! For years I used Winchester, Remington and Federal brass! Winchester brass is a crap shoot any more as it’s quality has gone south! Rem and Fed seemed always out of stock. Over the years I’ve used Starline 38 sp, 357mag and 45 colt when reloading pistol rounds and now when I need brass Starline is my first choice! Have used 38-55win and 45-70 brass and never had a problem with them. Just ordered 357mag brass from them directly which is a plus! Have found it’s hard to beat their prices as they have free shipping!

I have about a 1000 cases of Starline brass for my 357, have been very happy with it. The only issue I had was on one batch it was very hard to press in the primer.

I've only used Starline in pistol brass, those being .32ACP, .32S&W Long, .32H&R, .38 Special, .38S&W, .357, 9mmMak, and .45ACP. No disappointments in any of them, and it's nice that they carry some of the oddball stuff that was in that list.

I ordered 500 357 cases a while back and the first 100 or so seemed very hard to prime. I was thinking maybe because it was the first new brass I had loaded but the last few I pulled out of the same shipment seem fine. After reloading some of them multiple times the feel normal.

The Starline 38 special brass I have did the same thing as well as case lengths being all over.

Starline brass is good. Handgun brass is best in market, rifle brass is beneath Lapua, Peterson, etc. But above hornady or winchester IMO
Glad to hear. I did order a batch of 100 Starline .308 and will try it out.
Thanks for the reply & info.
