Does anyone know if all Starline .45 ACP brass is built for LPP? All I can see on their website is LPP, but wondering if they have SPP floating around out there as well.

Reason I ask is just to make sure I know what I'm getting myself into if I find "Starline .45 ACP" brass on the web, and the seller doesn't list primer type. If it's all LPP, then I don't need to bother asking the seller to verify.

Thanks,

FYI, I have both LPP and SPP .45 acp brass. Why?? Because it gives me complete versatility in the event that one type of primer becomes difficult to obtain. It’s also very easy to keep them separated. LPP became hard to find this last year but I had massive supplies of SPP so that is what I used to keep shooting .45 acp. LPP have now started showing up so I’ve been restocking them.
Also, I’ve seen zero difference between the two primers when using the same powder and projectiles. From accuracy to velocity through the
chronograph, they perform the same.

Ask the seller?

As I stated in my original post (the part you didn't sassily quote):

If it's all LPP, then I don't need to bother asking the seller to verify.

Does my question require a verbose argument? First, not everyone who has brass to sell understands what they have. Second, in these days of component shortages, where I'm sitting on a bunch of LPPs but no SPPs, it would be really nice if I were equipped with knowledge such as, "Starline has only ever made .45 ACP with LPP." That way if an opportunity to buy Starline .45 ACP brass happened to pop for me, I could jump on it without having to ask the seller to verify -- since in all likelihood the opportunity will have come and gone by the time the seller responds to my inquiry.

Since I know we have some brass scholars on THR, I thought this was a completely reasonable question. Maybe I was wrong.

Thanks for your meaningful contribution to this thread.

My bad.

However, I did call Starline and ask if they make 45 Auto brass with small primer pockets and the nice lady said no, only large. It took 2 minutes. Your welcome.:)

I actually prefer small primer 45acp. But I collect it all, and when I work up loads, I start with large primer first. When I find a good load, I then try it with small primer. There are a few powders where I have seen as much as 200fps difference. (I have tested over 30 different powders in 45acp).

As far as having to sort large and small primer brass, I made a sorting plate that helps out. I can dump brass into it and almost all the cases will drop in head first. I have screws (5mm IIRC) in the bottom that will fit into large pockets, but not small pockets, so that small primer cases will stand proud and can quickly be plucked with large tweezers or needle nose pliers. This sorter will also work with 10mm brass, which is also being invaded by the small primer variety now.

Well that contraption is quite an ingenious idea.
