Sorry if this is the wrong place to post this.
I'm looking for a gunsmith to examine my vintage L.C. Smith 0 Grade with damascus barrels and tell me if it is structurally safe to shoot, as well as what types (and size) shotshells are appropriate, as my own research has produced some conflicting information.
Additionally, I have an unmarked Spanish Mauser I believe to be 7x57mm caliber but would like to confirm that chambering as well, as I have heard that some of these rifles were converted to .308.
I also have an old Colt D.A. Thunderer that is currently broken. I have posted here about it before and understand it is very fragile and not many gunsmiths are qualified or willing to work on them, but I am hoping that perhaps an antique-savvy gunsmith might be open to it or at least refer me to a specialist.
I am willing to travel a fair distance for the right gunsmith, but would prefer them to be within or very close to the Chicago metro area.
Thanks,
Al
