Need Help From The S&W Guys

Open the cylinder, and look under the yoke on the frame....typically, you will see a pair of numbers, maybe a dash and another number....something like “66-4”

WTH is going on with the trigger....anyone?

Nickel 36 or Stainless model 60? That hammer is indicative of a j frame.

probably an aftermarket trigger shoe. They typically make a narrow trigger wide, like a target trigger

Kinda what I figured....I've seen the ones like are in the link you posted, but never like in the OP's pic. I like his better.

J frame 38 special with a Flaigs Ace trigger shoe, square butt Model. 36 or 60 depending on carbon or stainless.

Looks like a gorgeous M36 square-butt. If the grips are orginal it may even be a pre-36 Chiefs Special. The diamond grips were only used on the earliest examples, and should be serialized to the gun if you take them off and flip them over.

Condition looks excellent. Id expect that to bring $550-600 here locally.
Mine is a little later and a bit rougher, but still a sweet plinker.

Interesting looking grips on your Colt DA/SA wheelgun there WheelGunMan.

The picture angle really brought out the flare of the grips, they kinda reminded me of bell bottom pants...
