How do you sell and ship fired hulls?

I shipped 5 flats worth to someone across the country. Each 250 was wrapped in a plastic wad bag; then placed into the box. The receiver had his own UPS account so it was billed direct. Don't know if that got him a discount because the shipping was more than I sold the hull for @ .05/ea - -these were Remington Gold Nitros. I guess if someone wanted then bad enough or lives in an area (like CA) where a BG check is done now (to my understanding) for ammo, reloading at any cost makes sense.

If you have a lot, that should mean you're shooting at a gun club. Most have a bulletin board; I would start there to avoid the shipping hassle.

All the ones I’ve purchased over the years were simply packed in plastic bags placed in a box and mailed. They aren’t hazmat and empty not even the USPS would object. On line or a phone call would verify or disprove that however.

The calculated shipping costs for 1250 hulls from FL to CA was right at $80

Added: The box was about the size a 5' fake Christmas tree might fit in, so the dimensions added to the cost

WOW I had no idea. Not much weight. Perhaps a freight shipment with a trucking line. ??

I shipped empty hulls in a 5 gallon bucket with a label via UPS. Didn't weight a lot. Got the bucket with lid from Home Depot. Might not have been the cheapest, but it was simple.

How many fit in the bucket?

I want to say 500 is what shipped but I don’t remember exactly. I sent the opened top boxes with them too. It wasn’t completely full. But it was already in my garage that way and it was easy to ship with the new lid snapped Down tight

I had to really work to try and get 450 in a USPS medium box; way to time consuming and not enough revenue on my end and too much cost on the other end.

Weight for my shipment was about 28#, but with the box size made it cost more.

You can also try and sell them locally on Armslist.

Yep 28s would be an easier money maker at .15/each and smaller enough to make a large flat rate box work

Here's how a friend, the gentleman I bought my Ljutic from, ships them:


He sells STS and AA .05 per hull. Federal papers, .06 ea. He charges $16 to $20 for shipping.

I placed each flat worth in a plastic wad bag - 250 empties fit in a 500 wad bag - and then in a box like yours. Receiver said he was glad I did so, because UPS beat the snot out of the box which would have meant loose hulls falling out. I calculated the shipping based on the weight, destination zip and box dimensions; it was right at $78 and change; since it was billed to buyer's UPS account, I don't know if he paid less.

I hate UPS. I don’t see how they stay in business, delivery is lousy and they, as mentioned, beat the crap out of packages.

flea markets and gun shows when they open up are my hunting ground for hulls, i bought 5 gallon buckets(3) full of nitro,s for 5.00 a bucket last year. nitro,s and sts,s just about all i reload any more as my mec 9000,s seem to realy like them.
