Yet.

A lot companies like to send telegrams like this up from the sinking ship. You know, to sell a few more shares of stock to pad the executives pocket before the fold.

Didn’t Coonan do this same thing recently?

Either way, I’m sure Marlin will still be around for a bit yet.

When I spoke to my friend at Remington before the bankruptcy he did indicate that Marlin was keeping things afloat. Then the COVID thing hit and the workers were all furloughed. They are working now. The County is attempting to help though the bankruptcy. Rumors have been flying (not true ones) that Marlin was being purchased and then closed. Since I live close, their are local news items regarding the factory.

I'd like to see the details that this article speaks about. Supposedly, Marlin centerfire lever guns are the top selling lever guns of 2020.

That is laughable on the face of it. Marlin is in every bit as much jeopardy as Remington and the rest of the Remington Outdoor Company family of brands is. They are one is the same with no distinction other than the name they put on the roll mark and box. Marlin is completely absorbed into Remington's facilities and personnel (the few that are left). The leverguns are made in Remington's Ilion NY facility and the rimfires down here in Remington's Huntsville AL facility. If Remington folds then Marlin will fold with them.

Marlin may very well get sold off if Remington is liquidated but if you know the story about how badly Marlin was moved when Remington bought them and how long it took Remington to re-learn to make a decent Marlin you can understand how bad this is for Marlin whether they get sold or not. There are none of the original Marlin employees left in Remington as very few moved to begin with and now if Remington folds the few new experts of the product line will also likely disappear.

That TTAG article is fake news.
NO ONE knows what the best selling anything is because there is no database for dealers to report sales of specific firearms.
Another lie from TTAG.
