Which one would you rather have?
Oddly enough friend of mine and I were talking and he just offered to trade me his 452Varmint for the 457 i have. I also just ordered the LW barrel too, so we'll see that might be a real question and answer in a week or so.

I'll say this I've had significantly more consistent results with my 17hmr barrel than my .22s for what ever reason.

I also think your onto something with the cheek weld. You might wanna just grab one of those cheap spandex rifle cartridge holders and and put some padding under it to see if it helps.
Got that idea from @Varminterror, and have been running with it on all the sporter stocks I've got. Eventually I'll have a friend if mine make leather risers like I've got on my Ridgeline, but the cartridge holders actually works just as well.

I am sticking with my 2 CZ 452's. I don't see a significant advantage in a 457 even with an expensive barrel and tuner.

I agree.

I am a CZ rimfire fan. I have or have had several 455/452 guns. No 457s though. I am not knocking them, but if I am gonna spend money on a aftermarket barrel and tuner and am looking for bench accuracy it's not going on a CZ. Its going on a Rem 40x or 40x clone action.

The lower bolt lift, shorter receiver and other tweaks make the 457 preferable to me. My .17hmr barrel also shoots well under moa and I'm loath to give that up.
My buddy offered me a fairly significant bump on top of his 452 or I wouldn't be interested.
Not that the 452s arnt fantastic rifles

I have several 452s and a couple of BRNOs. Rimfire wise, I'm a 452 (or BRNO) guy. I've handled several 457 models but haven't bought one. They strike me as a CZ version of the Ruger American Rifle, a very nice gun, but I don't connect with them like I do the 452. I just like the way the 452s are built "old-school" style, I like the way they feel in hand and in operation, I like the blued steel, I like the safety just fine, I have no issues with the bolt lift, and I can make the triggers to my liking. And all of mine shoot very well.

However, I'm more attracted to older guns in general. Give me a vintage 1970s Colt AR vs. a new AR, a Pre-64 Model 70 vs. a current production, a CZ 550 vs. a 557, a Browning Auto-5 over a current A5, a no-lock Smith & Wesson L Frame over a Hillary Hole gun, a Belgium Medalist over a Buck Mark, etc. But, YMMV, and that's fine with me. :)

I never caught what distance he was shooting at? Also, mostly curious, how do you set up the target camera? Is it remote control or is it just set to run continuously. I have some fella on another forum who disputes my honesty with my Marlin 917 at 100 yards. I am not terribly motivated but if I had the time I could do a video showing it putting five in one hole at 100 yards (on a good day) and a ragged group (on a bad day). Not very technical with all this video stuff though I do have an old GoPro.

Shooting at 50 yards, probbly something I should not over look. I took for granted that everyone started with me down this 22rimfire rabbit hole where I laid all the instructions out. Depending on how old your gopro is it direct sunlight it may overheat. man turn the camera on down range and let it run that gets you there. I am blessed to have a camera that is controlled by my phone now where I use to have to walk back and forth because the gopro would overheat just letting it run.

Nice rifles, love the Boyds stocked one, always for the underdog. Though being for the underdogs, I am more of a Savage/Marlin feller. Yes, thanks for the info, I would have to invest in some equipment which may reduce my motivation further. Oh well, that leaves me out.

3crows I am not going to let you bow out that easy. I thought you were talking about proving to your doubters whats possible with your Marlin. If you are talking about joining my challenge just like the instructions on the site download the target shoot it then submit your target with some pictures which can be gained from your phone. You can go here and see what others have done. http://www.dayattherange.com/?page_id=7184 most are phone pictures.

I thought you were asking for camera help to convert your disbelievers :)

I have a CZ 455 American. I put a Timmey trigger on it, replaced the trigger guard with one from dip products and replaced some of the other cheap plastic parts with better. It is a fine rifle and it will shoot. I have always wanted a really high end rimfire .22 bolt action. I recently found a Steyr Zephyr ii. I think it is going to be a fine rifle and easy on the eyes. I will more than likely put a dip products trigger guard on it also. I don’t get why a company can’t do better than just a stamped trigger guard on a higher end rifle. The trigger is great. It breaks like a glass rod, at just over 2 pounds. I wonder what others think of or what there experience with a Styer Zephyr ii is? If some of you that have them, can tell your opinions and experience with them are, I would appreciate it. I have still not decided exactly what I think of it yet.

Actually both. Yes, you got it right but I was also interested in your target. You guys are pros though, I am just a hick that occasionally can hit something, even something I intended to hit, which is pretty good for me.

No pro here i surely can't be included in that group.

I don't know. One hole groups at 100 yards. With a Marlin 917. Is that .22 LR? I would like to see that backed up.

No, a 917 is .17HMR. The issue with the .17HMR in general is the variability from lot to lot or sometimes box to box with the ammo. Unlike .22 there is not any match grade ammunition yet available. I would likely shoot my Remington 510 for the vintage group if I can figure out how to submit a target I will try.

Edit to add: Sorry for the confusion, I did ask two questions but not very well, I wanted to know about the contest and distance being shot and I wanted to know how the cameras were set up. Thank you OP, I will sub you, you are fun to watch and one heck of a dead eye shot too! Even being hindered by those CZs ;) . I did not do so good, I did okay on the sticky dots but not so good on the Tack Driver, my scope reticles cover the tacks, arrgggh, works better at 25 and 50.

I've had similar issues with both .17hmr and .22 mag
My current gun doesn't seem to really care what gets run thru it. It's consistently shot under an inch at 100, but my Savage would shoot great to awful, box to box.
.22lr tend to be more consistent, even between lot changes....decent ammo is usually decent.
