Getting ready to load up some .45ACP's and while 231 or hp-38 is my go to powder I've decided to try some Titegroup as I've had good results with it in 38 super target loads.
Will be using Extreme 200gr. plated flat points.
Anyone out there tried a combo like this?

Titegroup in 45ACP, yes. But we were shooting the Round nose Extreme 200gr plated and were shooting nice little tight 1" - 2" groups offhand at 7yds with my friends Wilson Combat. I don't know why the flat nose would be any different.
Extreme makes decent bullets.

Titegroup is my usual go to powder in light loads and semi auto loads. I usually run it under a 185 grain bullet in 45 acp. My guns seem to prefer it to Bullseye, another good powder.

I had trouble loving HTG. Once I really started testing and more testing, I liked it in all the handgun loads I've tried at general range use! Not much use for it at higher velocities with heavier bullets!

My Dillon bullet seater doesn't like 45ACP truncated bullets!

All the best,

Have tried 4.9, 5.0 and 5.2 of TG with 180 cast SWC in 45acp. I thought the 4.9 was a bit underpowered, but the 5.2 seems ok

Jeeze, I said that, but really... thats in _my_ Vaquero, and WORK UP YOUR LOADS to what performs well. Don't take my word for nuthin when it comes to reloadin', cuz I only speak about what works for me.

Titegroup seems to burn really hot at higher velocities much more so than Bullseye which I use for lead SWC's.

I think you’ll find data online at Hodgdon for your 200gr bullet. I run a 230gr plated Rainier, at 4.5gr TG 1.230” and it makes major. It burns hot but clean and is very precise. Although I like TG, I prefer the recoil of Clays or WST in .45. Good luck!

Not a big fan of TiteGroup, it's a very peaky powder... make sure you adhere to bullet OAL specifications. Also... don't leave it in your powder drop, it will etch it.

Well I know they will work, the object of this exercise is to compare accuracy against my standard target load of 5.6gr's of HP-38

5.0 gr was what we used for the 200 gr, round nose, I just noticed I left that out of my first post.

Titegroup is my go-to powder.
I use 4.5 gr. with a 230 gr RN Plated.

That gets me +/- 800 fps.
Cycles my American Classic 1911 just fine.

About a year ago I tried a pound of titegroup. At the time I was looking for a single powder that would work well in all my calibers and guns. Never found it.

Used 4.0 titegroup with berry 230 rn (124 oal)with good, low recoil, but not outstanding results as far as accuracy, would probably have gotten rid of the occasional black shell if I'd wanted to play with it, increase the amt of powder , not long before i had lost the chrono which limits how much I want to adjust anything. This was shot in a new model blackhawk (revolver), 6inch. All in all I would certainly try titegroup with the 45acp again, given the opportunity with 230gr ,or 200gr with approprite receipe. Have fun.
