Hello, I was wondering if anyone else missed this show? I found Michael Bane, Mike Janich and Mike Seeklander to be very informative and to provide actual substance and training options to deal with the situations that they presented like mass killer attacks, road rage incidents, and most importantly how to avoid dangerous situations. I missed the last few seasons as my cable provider didn't offer the Outdoor Network. Also, my understanding is that Michael Bane may be in talks with the USCCA to produce the show.

What are your thoughts on the show coming back? Did anyone else find it informative?

Met and had a long talk with Bane. Interesting guy and some good insights. My current subscription doesn't include that channel and it wasn't worth the fee to add a set of useless channels.

I get Outdoor Channel with Sling. In the fall I add the sports package so I can watch ESPN.

Besides Shooting Gallery, there's Guns & Ammo, American Rifleman, Gun Stories, ShootingUSA and a number of others. Some have been in hiatus because of the virus but some have continued in production this summer.

Thank you to everyone for your responses and links. I agree with you GEM; cable today seems to be just like buying a new truck; to get the options you want you have to pay thousands for "packages" loaded with things you don't need or want. Thanks for the link alfsuave; I am going to check that out tonight. I hope the USCCA sponsors the program; it would be nice to have a dedicated self-defense television show on the airwaves. Not just thinking of myself here; by all accounts there are millions of new firearm owners in our country and a program like The Best Defense, I believe, would be helpful to those new owners.

There was another show that used actual situations from police departments across the country. They had the host with 2 guests (police officers, lawyers, etc.) that would view recreations of police reports which the guests would then critique. I don't remember what channel it was on (Pursuit, Outdoor, Sportsman, etc.) but it went off for the same reasons about 2-3 years ago.
The fact that they used actual situations instead of "staged events" made them more interesting.

Just to add one thing, if you are an Amazon Prime member you can add just the "MyOutdoorTV" as a Prime Video channel. It has a 7-day trial and then it's $10 a month. I didn't count all the shows, but there are a lot.

Don't forget "Trigger Time." I didn't know "Best Defense" was ceasing production.

My wife always wanted Martha Stewart's job. I told her I wanted Jim Scoutten's or Michael Bane's job.

BTW, Bane is a member here, hasn't posted for quite a while, though.

I gave up watching after the hundreth time that the shill for Spyderco had to use a blade and it just HAD TO BE his "company" folder !
I carry a blade,and have for 65 years !.
Including a 25 year stint in New York City !.
We call a folder a "pre broken knife", and that should partly explain my ire at the show.
I carry 3 knives and NONE are Spyderco's and NONE are for S/D as then it would be a FIXED blade.
I have come to appreciate Mr.Bane .
Even though it would behoove the show to highlight a better fit man who is of an age [ like past 50 ] ,as the "target" for the show is likely not young men.
Also would LOVE to have seen the show HIGHLIGHT what the background of the demonstrators is.

I leaned a lot from it.

I now notice when a couple of guys in different places around a parking lot get on cell phones at the same time when one sees me arrive.

I pay more attention to the possibility of someone jumping into the car in the brief moment in which the passenger door is open.

I pay more attention to reflections in windows.

Other things...

Me too! It made me more aware of what was happening around me; with the world we live in today you have to be hyper vigilant anywhere you go. You never know when a spontaneous protest (er, riot) is going to break out (don't laugh; I live in the northern suburbs of Detroit and we have had it happen here!!!).
