Today i Stopped at Walmart to get some camo paints and i came home with more than just spray paint . Long story short, i ask the manager in sporting goods if they had any big caliber rifles for sell since all they had was 22, 223 and 243 for sell for a few weeks now and to my surprise he said Yes, but he wasn’t sure what caliber it was. When i ask him to see it he brought a Remington 700 in 7mm Rem Magnum with a scope. When i ask the price he told me it comes out at $99, so without hesitation i went ahead and bought it.

So here it is, a Remington 700 in 7mm Rem Mag with a scope for $99.

I wonder if that was an "accident"? Heck, I would have bought it and left it in the box, just for later trading material.
It’s still in the box and yes i have no use for it right now since my hunting is done with 223, 300 blk, 308 and 6.5 Creedmoor. However it’s nice to have something that can cover everything in North America in one caliber “7mm Rem Mag”. I used to have a 30-06 and since i sold it i always wanted another one or bigger.

Now my current selection of 700s goes like this. 223, 308 6.5 Creedmoor and now 7mm Rem Mag. I think the 300 WM will follow but only time will tell

Why YES! I.d like that rifle cheap!

I wish mine was that cheap. I got a 700 in .243. I shot ot last night with my son's help. It didn't go well. It was getting dark and I couldn't see where it was hitting. The follower was sticking so it wasn't feeding well, and a round did not extract. I looked at it today and there was crud in it. I cleaned and lubed it and it looks ok. seems to function. My son got a .308 at the same time. It functioned and shoot great. I bore sighted it before going to the range and it was right on. Around one inch group at 100 yards. I hope my .243 shoots that well.

You mean like my Remington 700 ADL .243 Win and 7mm RM for $99 each at Walmart?:

There is already a huge, long, active thread on the $23 Savage Axis rifles and the $89/$99 Remington 700 and 783 rifles.

And then I took the scope from the 7mm and traded it in on a new Leupold on the $50 off select scopes sale.

I never understood these Walmart closeout prices. They don't put the lower price on the tag. People don't even know they are getting this great deal until it is rung up at the cashier. If the purpose of slashing the price is to encourage people to quickly buy the remaining inventory wouldn't you want people to know the sales price has been reduced?

The clearance rifles are not a sale in the normal sense but more of a stock rotation out. The price pertains to a SPECIFIC rifle, not all of the same model but a specific rifle. The brickseek.com website is how I got my two clearance Axis rifles and my two clearance Remington rifles which I guess now are collectible, lol.

Brickseek is hit and miss unfortunately. I’ve gotten some good deals there, but I’ve also wasted my time asking about a gun that wasn’t actually in stock. I’m not quite sure how Brickseek works but it’s certainly not without flaws.

I never said it was without flaw. Walmart has no means in their programs of indicating an item in on hold. Walmart does not hold merchandise, the exception being a firearm purchase, per the law, where a background check must be allowed to clear. In such case, the brickseek site will still show the rifle in stock. The clearance deals are specific to a store and to a specific rifle. I am blessed (or not) to have probably two dozen Walmarts within 45 minutes or less of me and here in flyover country we are also blessed with no traffic, just scenic country drives. I basically wound up with four rifles for under $300, it was worth the little effort for me.

So how does Brickseek know that a specific firearm at a specific Walmart store is discounted when the same model at a different Walmart is full price?

Thanks JC. I was at Wally World today and it had about 6 rifles in deer calibers. Several 22's ( a few at $99) and a few 17 hmr's. The prices are normal what you'd expect to pay. There are no steals or deals (except the 22's) like Sarduy got. Their gun cabinets are almost empty, but they had a decent supply of deer caliber ammo for sale. Somehow I would expect to see a bargain basement deal at a WM in a state with bad 2A rights like NY or NJ.
I bought one of those 99 dollar 22's last year. It went back to Savage for a warranty, but now it works fine and is a bargain for a beginner shooter.
I bought three boxes of "large" candy bars through Wal-Mart.com. Halloween is coming up. Thought I'd never see a full size candy bar again. Delivery at my house took 24 hours and cost nothing. Each box has 18 bars and cost me $43. I don't care if the kids don't come around this year. :)

I hit about 50% during this year’s bargain hunt. I scored a $399 Henry and a $124 Savage, but missed out on two Savages at $74.

You will have to ask brickseek.com the intricacies of how they access the big box store inventory programs but that is what they are doing. The rifles I bought, I printed the bar code off from brick seek and the UPC and went in to the store and had the employee scan those. I even had an employee tell me once there were no clearance rifles left and then upon scanning the bar code she went and got my 7mm! And, by the time I got back to my car with the rifle in hand, flipped the lid up on my MAC and renewed the brickseek website it showed my rifle OUT of STOCK and indeed it was because I had it in my hand. Here is one of mine, look below at the Eldorado store, that is (one of) my rifle shown there:

Look, I do not work for Walmart and I did not write the brickseek.com application, I just know that by using it I got four rifles that I would not have gotten otherwise for virtually nothing.

Walmart does not hold merchandise so they have no means of indicating the exception, firearms when on hold for background checks. Brickseek.com is only showing what Walmart's inventory programs are showing, a rifle in stock even if on background check hold. And if it shows out of stock, sold at $99, well, that is because those of us who figured out how to play the program have them in our gun safes now :).

The ammo for the 7 mm Mag costs more than half as much (at WM) as the rifle. Better invest is some reloading equipment.

Have a blessed day,

Leon

All I can say is it worked for me, but the shopping experience at the store is challenging. Nothing I bought was out on display, only once did an employee actually know things were available without me prompting them to check their computer inventory first. So if you enjoy the hunt, have at it. You may find a great deal.

Same here, three of the rifles were not on display. None of them showed the reduced price on the tag. And that the employees did not know is good, because otherwise, had they put the reduced price on the rifle and put it out in the case you likely would not have gotten it. That is why I printed out the UPC and bar code so they could scan it (or have it on my iPhone), removes their need to know anything but how to run a scanner.
