With Biden as president soon what do you think is the best investment $2,000 in firearms?
I would think something semi auto like a cheap but decent AK or AR type rifle.
Maybe even a Tavor. Could probably pick up three AR-15s for that money or an AK and an AR
I was hoping to buy a new model Colt Python
But given the political landscape might be Smarter financial y to buy a couple decent but not excessively expensive semi auto rifles instead.
Or maybe even my dream Scar 17
What would you get, both for investment and last call wish list?
Or should I blow the $ on the Python?

Just my personal opinion but I wanted one of the new pythons when they first came out but refused to pay above msrp. I messed up on the the first day when they came and were running in the 1300 buck range at most places. Of course they sold out quick. A few months later I bought a 686 on a whim at my local gun shop at a very fair price. Damn fine firearm and a stock 3.5 lb single action pull. Shoots lights out with my loads as well. I don't need a Python now.

If you have $2000 buy the gun you'll enjoy shooting and using the most. As long as you buy something of decent quality in 20 years it will be worth more than you paid. But much less than you'd have profited had you invested that $2000. Which I don't think is a bad deal. $2000 invested might well be worth $5000-$6000 in 20 years, but you can't touch or enjoy that money for 20 years. The $2000 gun that you actually use might be worth $3000, but you get to use it for 20 years.

Smartest? Invest in the stock market. Or keep in savings for a rainy day.

If this is earmarked for a gun, just get whatever you want to shoot and/or enjoy. It's already too late to buy a gun to make money on. That's a poor strategy to begin with, even if prices weren't still inflated from everything happening this year.

You said investment.
I would put it in a S&P 500 ETF.

If you want a new firearm then buy what you want.

If you are trying to guess what is going to happen with firearm laws, it's that a guess.
Buying something that you may feel is going to be restricted your investment may be lost or illegal to own without a license.

If that was all I had on hand in these times, I’d keep it in cash or long term food. If I had to buy something firearms related, every pre-panic priced primer or bullet of common caliber I could hunt down and 30-round AR magazines.

Again if $2k were it, I’d be very conservative with my spending. Having fought back from a costly divorce 5 years ago has me nervous at far more than that and supplies/food on hand. If you’re 80 and live in a hot zone, buy the Python.

Unless there is something you really want or need, you may just want to sit on it for a few months and see what happens.

If you must, I like the idea of getting something nice and/or unique that you will enjoy or a while. There are some very nice 1911 pistols between $1000 and $2000. Some 10mm 1911 pistols also. The Coonan 1911 in 357 Magnum is around $1400 last I looked.

You might end up buying something that you cannot sell or will be confiscated. Then again maybe those same things will greatly increase in value if grandfathered.

It's a crap shoot at the moment and that includes other investments like the stock market.

Personally I would either get something you will enjoy using or wait for something that is a great deal.

You might look to heirloom or custom knives, revolvers, double-barreled shotguns, bolt action rifles, etc that will likely not be greatly affected by the current environment.

I go by the mantra; "New guns are cool, but enjoying what you have is cooler".

So how are you set up to enjoy what you have? Do you reload? How's your ammo stash?

$2K would go a long ways towards a full up Dillon progressive and enough components to last a while. My last bonus went straight to reloading supplies. Now I'm still shooting while other guys are biatching about $.80 per round of .223...........

a Glock 17 with 6 Factory mags, and a Ruger PC 9 Charger and a SB Tactical Brace for it and a set of Magpul MBUS and a Holosun or other $200 range dot sight and the rest as much ammo as you can buy. Then resolve NOT to get rid of the combo , ever no matter what . When you finally have to it will be worth ALOT ! :)

Yeah it's a really weird environment even for trying to find reloading supplies.
What's a good place to get primers these days that's what I'm mostly short of?
And projectiles for 308 and 44 magnum and 357 Magnum?
I do have one AR-15 and two AK-47s plus an AK-74 and several varieties of semi-automatic 308.
I also have a nice collection of revolvers but definitely was looking at that Colt Python really hard but don't think paying 1800 for one is reasonable it's very possible that if I wait it will be back under 1500.
But but I would not buy stock in a rifle company now given the political climate with buying coming into power in two months.
I do think there will be a window where people could get rid of some semi-auto stuff that they have that they don't feel they need and still make a profit and I think the price is still going up and will go higher on semi-automatic rifles.
I would imagine that eventually the revolver market will drop to reasonable levels again because no law will come out to ban or bar six or eight shooter revolvers like what is probably going to happen to anything that can take a 30 round mag.
So what decent but not expensive AR or AK type weapons or something similar would fall into that sweet spot where they would be worth keeping if you wanted to but also still reasonably price enough or if they didn't fit into your collection you certainly wouldn't lose money on?

Ammo, reloading supplies, magazines, or a dream gun, if it has to be a firearms related something.

Otherwise, put it to paying off debt or your emergency fund.

Every 2A supporting American should own an AR. It is the line drawn in the sand.

Buy an AR, we all need skin in the game in the next fight coming to us on our freedoms.

Don’t care what you do with the rest, probably should be magazines, Ammo and accessories.
I bought a AR receiver a while back to build then realized they quite possibly are the most worthless pos I have owned

I am not a fan of the AR, that said, it is the line in the sand, and I bought one a few years back with several extra 20 round mags and plenty of ammo when it was still reasonably priced.

Investment? Silver bullion dollars... Cash isnt worth squat if a country folds. Silver is easier to spend than gold and will always have a value. A 100 dollar bill might as well be toilet paper

Or food, water, ammo, fuel, etc.

I dont think everyone needs an AR, but everyone should have a semi auto rifle IMO if they want to defend themselves. Whether its an AR, HK, AK, SKS, Mini, M1, etc. I have a semi auto for every member of the family, with an SKS as a spare. Thats not counting the 22s.

Yes, AR receivers are "worthless POS's", not much they can do by themselves but hold papers down on a desk.

As far as a complete AR being worthless, sure seems like our guys and gals have been defending freedom for 50 years quite well with the military version of them.

Put $1000 in Ruger stock and use the other $1000 for a beretta to shoot sporting clays
What $1000 Beretta are you going to get or shooting clays? BTW, gunmaker stocks are DOWN with the possibility of Biden taking over.
The LAST thing, gun-wise, I would buy right now is anything that might become banned in a few months or at least be required to have an NFA stamp. I'd be looking into other hard assets not gun related.
