Transition POST re-qualification

If I had a disability of some kind that wasn't outwardly visible, I don't think I'd ever mention it for fear of being passed over in favor of a applicant who didn't have one.

Yeah, and I got away with it until "they" decided to do annual hearing test.

I'm 72. Retired from the P D in 1990, Did another 18 year as a nurse. Since 08 I work 4 hours a day in a gun store and then do whatever I want as the job money is disposable not budget money. If I don't feel like doing something I don't. If I feel like it I do.
The biggest dilemma is fitting in nap time between range visits and other fun stuff!
I love my midday naps :)
Today has been laid back. I built an AR and did some reloading. Oh! I played with my dog too.

My qualification is coming up the first part of next month. The local sheriff has been great keeping us old guys legal, the only fly in the ointment is that we have to use lead free ammo. They have a small indoor range in the basement of the S.O. and made the leadfree switch a few years ago. Finding that ammo can be a challenge, I can't find any to buy, but I did an inventory and I have just enough to fire the course this year. I'm not complaining, shooting in December indoors is a really good thing.

I’m lucky that they also provide us with ammo to quality as long as it’s 9mm or 40 S&W.

Wow! Gunny that's great. I discovered inerceptor ammo a few years ago. I can't find it now. But it's a composite of brass and epoxy. Makes for a much lighter bullet, so much lighter recoil. I was shooting my .40 and it sure tamed down the recoil, but still functioned the action just fine. I would never turn down free ammo, but if your nerve damage makes the recoil problematic you might want to look into this stuff. I just needed lead free, the reduced recoil was just a bonus. It seemed to me the 9mm stuff was easier to come by than .40 and apparently the .380 is made from unicorn hooves and epoxy. I've never seen any in stock, even when we weren't in bad ole days like now. Good luck with your re-qual, I know skill will carry the day, but luck never hurts.

Congrats on the qualification, that's a fine looking target. I'm looking forward to seeing some of the work from the lathe, If it's anything like your stock work it will be beautiful. Enjoy your retirement.

To keep me busy I’m going to get into woodturning.

Buy glue! I was worried about stacking up some nice wood, turns out(haha;)) I used up every drop of random wood adhesive in the place. Bought two gallons the other day, Titebond III. Turned wood bowls are excellent brass and bullet containers, and look great doing so.

Congratulations on your shooting and your very well deserved retirement!
Looking forward to your wood projects, as well as any new steel ones that come along.

I recently qualed for LEOSA here in the Sunshine State since I hung up the badge.

Here in FL you "can" be issued LEOSA creds by your agency but they don't have too. Luckily mine did issue me mine. To qual in FL we have to shoot a 40rd course of fire from the 1.5 yard line to the 15 yard line. No night qual requirements.

Since FDLE requires that we qualify individually with each class of weapon. We're issued two cards. One for Semi-Autos and another for Revolvers.

YouTuber hrfunk actually replicated the State's Qual Course for Active LE and LEOSA.

Getting my annual LEOSA qual in Virginia was easy. The card allows one to carry “handgun”. Now that I am in Idaho, I am looking for a new place to qualify.
