Tikka stainless .308

@Nature Boy, I think Tikka currently offers the best value in a hunting rifle in terms of features, quality and performance. I'll say this again, I would 100% buy a .308 Win if they had a 1:10 twist barrel. I guess the Cerokote and muzzle brake add up to the $300 difference between the SuperLite that you link to and the Lite that I linked to.
I run the 308 Tikka with the 1-11 twist and actually prefer it over a 1-10 I feel I can get a tad more speed and it will definitely eat any ammunition I’ve put through it. they seemingly have a long free bore coupled that with a long action bolt stop and magazine your good to go.
I’ve run 175 FGMM at 600 yards it’s holding 5.5 inch ten shot group

I’ve loaded 155 Lapua Scenars over 44.2 grains of H 4895 that ran 2850 ish
I’ve loaded 165 AMax over 44.2 of R-15 super accurate!
Now I’m using 165 BTSP over IMR 4064 at 2650 ish super accurate again at 44.2
I can’t fault that 1-11 twist at all ..
Attached a 200 yard target from the load development vvvv

The M77 All Weather is cool, but it doesn't feel beyond "ordinary".
I REALLY like my Ruger #1 though. Have had 3.
Unfortunately, the "disease" hasn't taken hold of me like it has SOME PEOPLE ;) ;) ;)

My immunity comes from having the genes (thinner wallet in jeans).

Thought about keeping the old Trijicon for a yote AR15.
But decided to sell it, so now my M77 has no scope...........fits in shipping box easier (my old CZ455 box).
The Leupold Freedom VX will go on the Sako.

The 77 will be going bye bye.
If my daughter lays claim to the Forester, then I'll proly get a Tikka.

I'd be using Barnes bullets so the additional length requires a faster twist, particularly in colder weather which it typically is during our rifle season. For me there's no downside to using a 1:10 twist barrel for the .30 cal cartridges but Tikka seems to like 1:11. I've never looked into getting a Tikka rebarreled but Proof sells both CF and SS pre-fit barrels for Tikka so there's always that option.

I have a LH stainless synthetic lite in 308 and it’s generally the gun I grab if I’m hunting in the woods. It’s a great feeling and super accurate rifle. Can’t say I enjoy shooting it from the bench very much but that’s not really it’s purpose. They have a feel about them that needs to be experienced to be appreciated.

They do have a smooth action, compared to some other rifles on today’s market I really think they are a bargain and the animals don’t seem to complain about the twist rate I know I sure like the 1-11 over the 1-10
I’ve had both.....
