@Gordon what wheelgun is that, good sir ?
I showed it when I won it reasonably on Gunbroker earlier. It is a Ruger New Vaquero .357 4 5/8" with "case hardened" frame. What makes it great is the full Cowboy Competition by a foremost East Coast Smith job on action and sights ect. and the "bonded Ivory grips it came with in the factory box looking relatively unfired ! I wanted it because it was like what I saw winning competitors using, I had been using a cross draw Cimmarron "Hartford " model 32-20 with 7 1/2" barrel . I used to shoot my old Win. 1892 rifle in 32-20 to match . Now I plan to shoot this slick and sights opened and regulated Ruger .357 and a recently bought used Uberti 1873 Short Rifle in .38 special . I used to have a Bowie on my former rig, downsized to this little thin old Marbles knife I picked up reasonably becase the sheath wasn't factory and blade needed clean up :)

Driftwood Johnson set me straight, I am happycamper :)
"That is not a stock New Vaquero. The jeweled hammer looks like the work of Jimmy Spurs, a well known Cowboy Action Gunsmith in New Hampshire. As far as I know he does that to the hammers of all the revolvers he slicks up. If the action is super slick I would bet even money he is the one who slicked it up. Jimmy usually put the free spin pawl in any Ruger revolvers that did not come with it stock."

I only see one pistol.

What is your second one?
You mean my former Cross draw rig 32-20 7 1/2" Cimarron Hartford model with Stag grips ? I'll have to get it out of the safe and get a picture. It was right on the verge of having too much cant on the holster to be legal. They let me slide since I never won anything big. It is close to the max 30 degrees. I wore an American Derringer on the off side in ,357 in a straight drop rig. Ill get a picture up by and by.

The 32-20 hartford model is on the bottom of this picture, Ill take new pictures in the rig which does it justice.

The Remington derringer shoved into the sleeve garter? ;)

Or the Colt Thuer stuck into a cartridge loop on his left side?
Actually either would work ! Sleeve garter in the way for gun fighting and derringers all ways hit way high for me . I am considering an S&W 2nd model .38 New Departure which seems may be legal in SASS , it is a Antique made before 1898 gun after all.

It is not legal. Revolvers must be single action.

Howdy

Like it or not, antiquity has nothing to do with whether or not a revolver is legal for SASS. Main Match revolvers must be single action, and they must have a full sized frame, such as the Colt SAA. Your New Departure would be legal as a Pocket Pistol, but not as a Main Match revolver.

My SASS revolvers:

Vaquero .45 Colt 7.5” barrel
New Vaquero.45 Colt 5.5” barrel

I used to have several CAS revolvers but I quit CAS and when I restarted in 2016 I decided to keep it light. Besides, there are other guns I want that aren’t SASS legal.

I knew it was good for pocket pistol match. Apparently the traditional Remington O/U is legal for off side belt carry as it is single action ? I have only used them in side matches.
Here is that T.Christenson cross draw rig , it also fits my 1875 Remington .45 for some weird reason , maybe it was made for it. And here is a new picture of the Hartford .32-20 which has a super sweet tuned action and perfectly sighted in at 50 feet. IMG_20201121_161445211.jpg IMG_20201121_160720936_HDR.jpg

I really need to do CAS someday, I don't know if there is any close to me though.might be a travel for me

Don't really know what you mean by 'off side belt carry'.

We had a guy years ago who festooned himself with 6 (6) single action revolvers (Quantrill's Raiders style) until he was told he could only carry 2 (two) main match pistols on his gun belt. My suspenders have a small holster built into them up near the top of one side. I have a Remington Double Derringer knock off (I have a real one now too) that I used to carry in that holster. I eventually stopped carrying it because whenever you go to the unloading table you have to show clear on every pistol you are carrying, whether it was fired or not. I just got tired of having to show clear with the derringer all the time. I really don't know if you can carry your derringer on the same gunbelt as your main match pistols, but you will have to show clear with every pistol you have on you when you show up at the unloading table.
