If there are any leathercrafters on THR that specialize in nice leather for SASS/CAS rigs, I'm interested in hearing from you. OR, if you have a nice rig that you can refer me to their web site, thanks in advance. Pics are worth a thousand words. :)

I have a pair of 4" Vaqueros that would look nice in a 2-gun rig, one of which is the John Wayne 100 yr centennial. I love Bianchi but it's WAY out beyond my means. Prefer oxblood color, no fancy paisley carvings, belt with ammo loops and 2 lined holsters. Thanks in advance.

Do you want this rig just for fun and looks, or are you planning on shooting matches with it? you can get a pretty servicable basic rig from Triple K, available at cabelas, for not a lot of $$$. Do you want cheap but somewhat effective; historically accurate; or modern "performance," oriented leather?

Some nationally known leathermakers:

www.kirkpatrickleather.com/ Kirkpatrick.
www.mernickleholsters.com Bob Mernickle
http://www.customgunleather.com/ Murphy Custom Gunleather

I presently use a Kirkpatrick Competitor II rig. Their Tequila rig works pretty well, too. Good products, once they get the order right, but lousy customer service.

My dad just got a rig from Murphy, and that thing is seriously impressive, heavy duty stuff.

Another thing, lined holsters are not the best idea in the world. The suede lining is actually pretty abrasive stuff, and eats blueing for lunch. I think that the present state of the art is double thick holsters, with smooth finished leather forming both the inside and outside.
