I got my first 1911 in 2011, and I got my first 45 Colt when I was 45. This year I need to get something 49ish. I missed the .480 Ruger last year... should I try to catch up? Or should I save for a .500 Magnum next year?
49, .490, forty-nine... what gun should I buy this year?

H&R 949, aka "the Forty-Niner". Not big on punch being 22LR, but the name is a pretty good match.

49 is complicated. I was born under a 49 star US flag. MAS 49 and FN 1949 were already mentioned, which were my first thoughts. 7.5french is nicely available in our modern times. Some of the FN 1949 calibers are, ahem, "interesting" today. The .30-06 variants are nice to shoot.

Yeah I’m trying to decide between a .500S&W and .50 JRH. Maybe a .50AE though I think a revolver would be more versatile and fun.

Oh, just remembered, there's the .50acp, too.

I thought of that since I shoot .490s in my Hawken. But I have no use for an inline. Thanks for the idea though.
