As have many of you, I have THOUGHT I bought primers on line only to have my order canceled a few hours later due to out of stock. Three times it has happened to me since September.

Once, I ordered 5K and was actually told it was at the store for pickup (more on this later). I was in primer nirvana. Opened the box and there were 3 sleeves! 300 vs. 5000.

Complaints to customer service are a waste of time—“our website/inventory control interface has been broken since the spring and our IT guys are trying to fix it,” is the best info I’ve gotten.

But the brokenness isn’t all inclusive. I haven’t had any similar problems buying powder.

On primers, if I tried to buy a brick, it’d be cancelled a couple hours or even a day later. BUT, if I bought 10 separate sleeves, the sale would go through and be delivered to my local (30 miles) Cabela’s for pickup.

Most recently I made a couple of separate small purchases vs. one combined that so far seem to be working—the primers are said to be on their way to the store.

Lots of new orders due to pandemic and blah, blah, blah may factor in, but I also suspect part of the problem is the BassPro take over and some associated IT interface problems. And I presume whichever website one uses the same inventory is being accessed.

Note: Picking up at the store (if one is local) is the only really cost-effective way to buy a small quantity of powder or primers because you’re avoiding both shipping and hazmat fees.

I've done average. I check "very often" and have only found primers twice. Both times I was able to purchase and added 2000 large pistol primers and 3000 large pistol magnum primers to my inventory. Otherwise it's been a constant nothing found. Or a bit more frustrating is when it says available at my concord NC location but unable to put it in cart.

It's a shortage, it's frustrating. If it wasn't difficult and frustrating it wouldn't be a shortage. I'm not being a smart a$$, I'm agreeing and feel your pain.

I'm in hunker down mode at this time. My neice and her boyfriend have Covid. My sister in law has covid, My brother in law is sick and refuses to test and just says it's nothing don't worry about it. My wife is high risk so she's basically shelter in place and I'm the got to work and got to grocery. Shooting is off the radar until a safer time whether it be spring/summer or vaccinations have proven themselves.

Just had the same thing happen with some 9mm bullets....a good 7-10 days after my order. I've found their website to be clunky for the quick checking you have to do these days too.

I find it frustrating when everyone is posting that primers are available at bass pro shops or cabela's online, and I will check immediately. It will only show my stores availability, and it is never in stock.
I haven’t seen “in stock” at my store in almost a year. Just select have it shipped to store when you check out.

Oh I have successfully bought them for sure and I go to the range twice a week or more. This was just my recent (since September) experience which has been frustrating but not unfruitful.

I pray for your family’s heath. I live in Northern Virginia and even with our thousands upon thousands of cases, I know just one person who had the virus. Sadly, he died. Bob was his name, he was over 90, and just didn’t think it was real. The vaccine can’t get here too soon.

Same here. Not in stock, no ship to store, and no ship to home.
Change stores,,, Same thing.

Three times I checked Bass Pro near me online and it appeared they had small pistol primers in stock until I got to the point where I entered my credit card number then Wallah! “Sorry this item is not available.”

That’s okay...they don’t need my money anyway. They screwed up Cabela’s. I should not have bothered in the first place.

They definitely are having problems with the interface between the website and inventory. And I suspect it’s a combo of several things-the panic and the takeover/merger with BassPro (IT problems are commonplace when merging two organizations). Lying? About what? They say they are having problems and clearly they are.

But they also definitely have small amounts to sell but it sells in a nano second. I note our Mr.Zorg posted notifications this AM at 1:30ish and 3:30ish. That’s when you have to jump in and buy. You snooze you lose and apparently he doesn’t snooze.

But don’t expect your local store to have it in stock. Don’t wait for that. Whatever inventory exists is in the ether somewhere. And it’s likely shared between all the Cabela’s and all the BassPro nationwide. Forget the 3 options under the item, they aren’t definitive. If you get an add to cart option, take it and just fly to checkout ASAP and see what happens.

It’s a pain in the rear for sure, but one thing is certain, no one’s going to send you primers because you’re pretty.

I have no doubt they are having issues with the huge influx of people ordering all at the same time, and considering the number of stores in play, I can't say I am surprised. I do sympathize with those frustrated. I need some CCI-450s. Well, need is strong, would really like is more it, as I have substitutes, but who likes to rework loads?

Hey, it sucks right now, but to quote the fellow from the movie Armageddon, "Embrace the Horror". :)

I quote Simon Roth in Godfather II, “This...is the business we have chosen”

Does anyone think anyone is lying, regardless of what side of the situation we're on?

Availability/selection/price from same Vendor's (Pass Bro and Crabella's) before was nothing exceptional,,,
The consistency of the current foopah is strong.
Glad that some folks are having some luck with those sources, and I guess I'm equally glad with the consistency of not even being able to place an order.
Also feeling blessed to live in an area with multiple LGS's as their inventory is 'flying under the digital radar' that millions of others are relying upon. :D

Well, I had 1K CCI-450s in my cart, all it would allow, but when I hit submit order it reduced it to zero. *Sigh* :)

LGS #1 sells primers by the brick, limit 1 per person, but has always been OOS for the last half-dozen times I've tried.
LGS #2 had LPP, LRM, and SPP in stock today, but they limit you to a sleeve of (100) per type per person per day.
Had the Wife with me. 200 each of LRM and SPP followed us home.
Much as I hate doing it, I can swing by there on my lunch hour everyday if I get a hankering,,,
