Hilarious ammo price of the week

$400 for 20 rounds of 3" rifled slugs
Whhaaat? I have a CASE of these ... And a case of the much better Federal Tactical rifled slugs ... What's the "Gunbroker" thing you speak of?

(I remain embarrassed about how much I paid for a couple boxes of .30-06 -- in my defense, I had to sight in a new rifle with a few different bullet weights -- before deer season started... and I didn't even get one this year)

Is anyone else thinking about selling their stash?
I've got an ammo can full of .45 ACP that I've been lugging around through 5 different moves in 3 states the last 12 years. I don't own a .45 ACP. I dug it out and inventoried it last week. 630 rounds of everything from Blazers to Black Talons. I figure I could probably get $500 for it at today's prices.

Was tempted, but you never know. Could be worth twice that in a year. Could be worth $100. Either way, I know I have ammo if I ever decide to get a .45 ACP again.

Only thing I have to offer would be some 10mm, but next year is my 10th anniversary and I’m going to really push for something 10mm. It may just be a contender barrel, but if I went 16” with a 10mm mag and put a stock on it then I’m set up decently well for the kids to deer hunt with handloads.

Only ammo im tempted to sell is for a firearm I dont own. 5.7x28, but the price keeps going on and regular resupplys aren't common. I know I could easily double what I paid but I still want a ruger 57. Just waiting for those to come down

You'll like the Ruger 57. I really enjoy mine. The trigger could be better is my only gripe. Not terrible but not great.

I've about run out of space and ammo cans for reloaded ammo.
I can store bulk range brass, lead and recovered bullets out in the shed.
Once it becomes easier to shoot I'll start reloading again.
(Yet another co-worker is off to get tested for the Couf... .)

I just saw american eagle 5.56 900rd can go for $700 and the commenters were going crazy with asking on holds and saying the price couldnt be beat. It did get me to thinking about shaking loose 1000rds to pay some bills. I'll wait til it hits $1/rd and sell it to a third homeowner

I've talked to a guy a few times lately that's always going to antique and farm auctions. He told me he's seeing .380 going for $60-$80/50, 9mm for $1 a round and Winchester white box .223 for $35/20. Live auctions, not online.

I'm thinking about shaking loose a thousand rounds from stock to fund a new gun....after all, at that price, it'd be over $500 profit.....

I was at a live auction 3 weeks ago. Steel Wolf 223 went for $1.25/rd.

Steel. Not reloadable brass.
Wolf, not some premium brand. Just blasting ammo.

Wow.

The retail store for my local range has .223, .308, 7.62x39, 45acp, 40S&W. and a host of other ammo at reasonable prices - they dropped a pallet of AK ammo on the floor a week ago

Yeah I'm looking at new guns too, lol. I just got an unexpected $700 bonus so that being said, I may bring a sealed can of 5.56 and see what happens. Anything can happen at a gun shop. You can go in to pick up gun oil and walk out with an M1A scout squad. True story.

If people are paying that, I'm willing to sell it for that. Some of it anyway. Especially if its some yuppie with disposable income. I would also, and actually have recently given some ammo away to people who needed it who just bought guns and couldnt get any and to a guy whose grandson just got his first hunting rifle and couldnt get ammo for it. There, I'm done justifying.:D

Some of these prices are regional. 5.56 is already at $1/rd where I live.

I just picked up 500 rds of PPU FPJ 165 gr. .40 S&W for $167 and change.
That feels like a good deal these days, only thing I saw on the shelf elsewhere was going for $43 +tax for 50 rds. (125 gr. frangible).

Got a notice yesterday from Sportsman's Guide. 200 rounds Magtech 147gr FMJ 7.62 x 51. $147.00. $40.00 more than it was before the crazy, but still seemed a good deal.

I'm still waiting for my couple cases of wolf 9mm from sportmans guide. Hoping to hear from them soon. I ordered back in late may, early June. It's hard to believe they havent had a shipment of wolf in all that time and my order must have been pretty early on a lil before the full on crazy. I saw the writing on the wall as soon as I heard possible shutdown.
