AK Cruise vacation - WTD w/ handgun?

The fact that the cruise line will not provide secure storage for the duration of the journey is rather ridiculous. It should be as simple as providing the weapon to the purser in a locked case dockside before departure and picking it up from the purser dockside after arrival.
They probably do provide secure storage, just not for guns.

Post it under "things you can no longer do" in this "free" country.
That makes little sense. Since 1776 one of the most revered rights we have is "my property, my rules". The owner of a store, golf course, gas station, restaurant, airline or a cruise ship is free to have any rules he wants as long as those rules don't violate anyone's civil rights. And FYI, the Second Amendment doesn't give you the right to carry a gun anywhere you choose, and it never has. Like the rest of the Bill of Rights, the 2nd is a protection against government infringement, not a businesses.

No, it's typical of companies who fear any sort of liability and the inevitable litigation.
Avoiding liability is nothing new. Likely every room on the ship has a small safe.

Not really sure why you think it modern stupidity.

Your response proved my point. The fact that a gun is treated differently than another piece of valuable or sensitive property that could be secured by the purser is modern stupidity.

In the past you didn't have to mail a firearm to an FFL. I'm pretty sure that's government intervention. People could have worked around a private business banning firearms.
