Picked up a new Ruger Wrangler today (.22 caliber). Took it to the range and put 150 rounds through it. Very fun to shoot! Shot from 7-15 yards mostly, but tried 25 yards and did alright as well. Was surprised at how well the sights worked since it’s a cheaper gun. Picked it up for $189!

Very happy with it. Easy to use, fun to shoot, and it’s pretty accurate too. Highly recommend it for a fun plinking gun!

I really like mine. Still hoping the loading gate loosens up though.

Yeah it’s a bit stiff, but wasn’t too bad for me. It might vary from gun to gun. I’ve read reviews online where people said over time it got a little looser.

I wouldn’t mind putting some wood grips on it one day. I think it’d look a lot cooler than the black plastic grips.

I should update my side by side comparison between a Heritage RR and a Wrangler.
Round count is around 750 through each now. Probably do an update at 1000 rds.

That’s cool! I looked at the RR also. I’ve had good luck with Ruger so far so I went with the Wrangler.

What are the main differences between the two?

I think the Wrangler is a wonderful concept, which Ruger should have had a while ago. But I got a Single-Ten, which is all SS, adjustable sights, ten round capacity, and perfect loading gate. A bit of the "Poor man's trigger job" made it even better. If I did not have the "Ten" I might have gotten the Wrangler.

I picked up some Altamont grips for 20 bucks on Black Friday last year for my black on black Wrangler. They fit the grip frame well and are also a bit easier for me to hold on to compared to the wafer-thin plastic panels were.

Stay safe.

I couldn't figure out how to link the thread so i bumped it to the top.
Update to follow.

I've had two HRRs since before the Wrangler came out, so it's unlikely I'll be getting the Ruger (I do own a RSS.) My impressions are similar to yours. I do prefer the wood stocks on the Heritage versus the plastic ones on the newcomer. The safety on the Heritage, while kind of goofy, does allow for dry-fire, too.

I have one and my sons and I liked it so much, bought one for my oldest son's birthday...$190 OTD..great fun to shoot and 22 ammo easy to find and way cheap(333 box for $23)....

For right below
Bought one a couple months ago and have been slowly customizing it. Have yet to shoot it.

For those interested, a Single Six loading gate does fit, though needs some fitting where it actually fits into the gate recess. The pivot pin portion fit great and its slightly easier to manipulate. My wrangler factory gate was also stiff.

Bought one for my son when they first came out. I've shot it more then him. Good little pistol. Decent accuracy. Mine doesn't like hyper velocity stingers. Likes bulk federal. Im debating on getting one for myself, my wife, and my SIL.
