Looking around at the various flintlock or percussion Hawken rifles. There are plenty of .54 cal around but I am a big bore type of fella and was looking for options in .58 cal.

There doesn’t seem to be many at all but I am looking for a lefty as well. I have found nothing in that regard whether in complete rifle or kit form.

I also like full stocks.

Also on another note: What is the opinion on using right handed guns for left handed shooting? I would think it would be not recommended for flintlocks at all and probably cautioned against for percussion.

Left handed shooter here,
I honestly don't have any problems at all shooting flintlocks or percussion locks left handed. The hammer is still in good position to cock , and the flash from the pan doesn't get any closer to your face depending on which side you hold it.
Basically, for me there isn't any difference at all. It's not like a bolt action.

Out of curiosity, why do you specifically recommend the Renegade for this procedure?
The Renegade seems to pop up in the used gun forums quite often although left hand versions only on occasion, and the 1" across the flats barrel can be bored out to .58 and still be safe. I have had two Renegade barrels bored out by Mr. Hoyt. He does great work, and will put in whatever rifling twist you want.

Here is an update. After not finding many Hawken styles in 58 cal and nearly just settling for a .54, I really began to consider @Fyrstyk's advice and finding a Renegade to bore out. I took another look at GB and found a 58 Hawken style. It is an Armi San Marcos and right handed. Pretty plain but decent walnut. 1" barrel too. I had heard Investarms had made some 58s in the past on 15/16 barrels and should probably not be used with hotter loads. No worries there at least. Got it cleaned up a bit. Decided I didnt like the sights (the rear sight at least) and will be putting a Lyman 57SML on it in the near future. I will have to do some finessing to get it on there but I think it will be worth it.

Also, I think it must be a 1-66-70” twist since I get just over a half rotation through the 29” barrel.

That's a very nice find, especially in .58.
I've never seen or heard about an ASM Hawken before.
I found some other owners who posted good reports about them except theirs were in .50 caliber.
Also on the MLF, Zonie posted about an ASM Blue Book listing that said,

"This book only lists three rifles as being made by Armi San Marco. These are: HAWKEN RIFLE (.45, .50, .54 & .58 cal), ST. LOUIS HAWKEN (.50, .54, & .58 cal) & ROCKY MOUNTAIN SHORT RIFLE (.50 cal X 24 in barrel)."

Some photos of another ASM Hawken are on this page: --->>> https://www.muzzleloadingforum.com/threads/armi-san-marco-hawken.106235/page-2

Someone here mentioned that they bought their ASM Hawken in the early to mid 1980's. --->>> https://www.muzzleloadingforum.com/threads/armi-san-marco-rifle.33736/

I'm late to the thread but Invest arms sold a 58 left hand hawken thru Cabelas in the 90s. it was no Pedersoli but it was a decent platform to start, a little fit and finish work on the stock and brass made a good looking rifle. the accuracy was good with minie ball or patched ball.

i have a TC big bore .58 renegade that i mounted a reciever sight on. they are hard to find, but i have not had any trouble with it.
