if you are only looking to weigh your powder charges- the RCBS 500 goes to 505 grains which covers all powder weights for rifle and pistol and even shotgun.
and I would say get the 500 instead of the 1000 scale, and use the savings on a set of check weights to make sure 0=0
if you want to weight bullets for precision match loading to get all of them within .1 grains- you should be fine as well except for 50 cal bullets.
However, if that is the case, get a digital scale to make it easier on yourself.
My beam scale has never run out of gravity in the middle of a reloading session in 30+ years yet. I always trust it. Get check weights though, well worth the expense.
