30-30.06 load data

I'm away from my notes, but have had great success with IMR 4064 and 150 grain bullets at or below 300 Savage velocities. My standard M1 load is with 47 gr of this powder, but in testing I went as low as 44 and the accuracy held up well, but I increased charge for positive function in the M1. This load is also extensively tested for extreme cold. Recoil with 150s is mild even at the 47 grain level. I would go this route with a cup and core 150 at or slightly below book start loads and see if accuracy and recoil match your needs. Both the Hornady and Speer 150sp are deer hammers down to 2000 fish, probably lower. You could work in a similar range with your 170s, but you're adding some unnecessary recoil with the heavier bullet.

I have a wonderful Ruger 30-06 that I have used to take 16 deer, all bucks. Very accurate and a "lucky gun" for me. Now its time to take my grandsons hunting and pass on the tradition.
I want to down load the 30-06 to 30-30 velocities, somewhere around 2200fps. I have a box of Hornady 170gr flat nose , and plenty of 30-06 brass. Any suggestions of powder, loads, etc..?
Speaking of powder, with the current shortage I only have a few choices, H380, Varget, IMR 4350, H4198, H4064 and Unique. Any help with load starting points would be appreciated.

I don't know why everyone is posting so many different sources when Hodgdon supplies reduced rifle loads which are safe and tested. Just follow their instructions and go for it.

H4895 don't grow on trees these days. Assuming the OP meant IMR4064 that he has. I have used that reduced slightly below start loads with good success, and I know it to be consistent and reliable at low load density in other cartridges.
