New Walther revealed early

I do not own and have never shot a Walther of any kind. Those serrations are quite something. I have nothing against, or for, front serrations (they are on my Glock 45) but these things are very aggressive looking. Kind of like BF Goodrich AT tires.

Here is an excerpt from the website the OP posted: https://waltherarms.com/pdp/

“SUPERTERRAIN SERRATIONS
The SuperTerrain Serrations are uniquely designed protruding serrations on the slide, allowing for quicker and more responsive hands-on engagement with the pistol. Instead of the standard subterranean cuts that are cut into the surface of the slide, Walther has broken the mold with a SuperTerrain design to raise the serrations above the surface of the slide offering a new more positive feel to operating the action. When you go to make READY, you will feel the difference the instant you put your hands on it.”

I am not knocking them, as I haven’t tried them, but man, they are big. Not sure if “serrations” is quite the right word. They are more like “traction lugs”.

I am on a few Walther Facebook groups as well as the Walther forums. I am already seeing posts of people getting them from regular gun shops like Academy and Cabelas. Running price seems to be right at the 650 mark.
That was a joke based on the panic buying of handguns that has been going on in the last year.

Pass. I loved my .40 S&W P99 in Olive Drab 20 years ago. Everything since has been ugly and unnecessary. Another polymer striker-fired 9mm that you can't find for sale at normal prices? No thanks.

It looks like a PPQ and Beretta APX knocked boots and this was the offspring.
Ah, no, as I said before, it simply looks like a Hi-Point put on a forced diet.

Sorry Walther fans, but if you're gonna keep making plastic pistols, at least make them look sleek and sexy... Even S&W figured this out (took H&K a few years).

(I do kinda like the paddle mag release, but I was made to carry a HK for a few years)

Pretty much anything has a better trigger pull than a Glock. More important, though, is: does it always go bang? A Glock pretty much always goes bang.

Also, in my opinion, the PDP is not aesthetically pleasing with the massive slide serrations.

Agreed. In my utterly personal opinion; the PDP makes a Glock look pretty. Too, I've never seen a practical use for front serrations but there's no disadvantage either except for purely subjective, "aesthetic" reasons.

I finally shot one today, it's a great gun. Some of the comments said it looks bad, quite the opposite in person as far as I'm concerned. I was surprised that the slide serrations actually felt smooth, they don't grab your fingers on the way closed; they are fantastic. Also, this gun had an RMR on the slide, yet I could easily rack from the rear, with my hand cupping the RMR yet grabbing the serrations. It's also very light, yet the recoil is a quick push, not a snap like my 3.5 inch PPQ. I got 3 rounds per second off and in a 5x5 circle, 12 total. Both the trigger and action make it a quick shooting gun. The trigger feels like a PPQ trigger (Fantastic), and the gun only had 30 rds through it. It will only get better. This is like a better PPQ. I may sell mine and get the PDP.
