New Walther revealed early

I have a PPQ M2, and my biggest gripe with it is the texture. It sucks! Ergonomics are fine, the gun shoots great, and it’s totally reliable, but the grippiness of the thing is lousy. If this new texture improves that, I see that as a win.

I don’t mind the front serrations. And more red dot friendly is a plus.

I’d have liked to see the paddle mag releases return...but you can’t have it all.

Wow, those slide cuts are hideous. Still, I'd like to shoot one.

How come everyone on the internet isn't excoriating Walther for releasing a "new" model with just a few changes in slide and trigger. I'm not hearing the cries of "failing to innovate!" and "resting on their reputation!!!" like all the haters are still going on with Glock? Didn't happen with the M&P 2.0, either.

PPQ trigger is very nice but long. They reduced some of the travel, which I think is a good thing.

Honestly, in terms of a carry/duty gun the PPQ trigger felt almost too light for my comfort, not sure I like the idea of that trigger with less travel for something other than a range gun.

Have to try it to see I suppose.

PDP Compact is 5.4" in height. Nope. Still trying to land that PPQ SC.

They make such a big deal of the front slide serrations, but sadly, I'm not a fan of slide cuts on the front.

In a SHTF situation, I don't want my hand anywhere near the front of a gun.
When "front-cocking serrations" (which spoil the looks of almost every pistol they're on and chew up one's nice lined holsters) became a thing, I was hoping they were a passing fad (like tailfins were on automobiles).

Alas, they're still with us.

And yes, if you have to do a press-check (or otherwise use them for any additional purposes such as grating cheese) using FCS, you just haven't learned right.

I won’t comment on the “no comments” comment. But as a Glock shooter, I hear ya!

Not gonna refute the light trigger either. My first PPQ was a .45 and on cold days, I had two separate unintentional double taps at the range which I blamed first on my being used to Glock triggers and secondly on the trigger being too light for me when my fingers were freezing.

I’ve only shot my current M2 PPQ on warm days and when it was hot and my hands got sweaty, my hands didn’t get a good grip on the poor grip texture. But the trigger pull is long for my liking as I have a “medium size glove” hand.

I'm not seeing the PPQ lineage; based on the price and appearance, I immediately thought that was the update of the PPX/Creed models.

All I have to say is ...yuck.

I know target folks have different needs but you couldn't give me one of those.

Edit: but of course I was more talking about offerings in the service/carry area, not that Glock doesn't make funky target guns. Though, I guess, there are complaints that Glock doesn't make a Pistol Caliber Carbine, but I don't find that useful or desirable, myself.

Are there plans to update the PPQ Q4 Tac as well? I searched but couldn't find an answer. I've been trying to decide between the Q4 Tac and VP9 tactical. Wondering if I should wait.

Was just busting your chops.

I am indifferent either way.. No interest in this Walther nor another Glock.

Should be available readily in 2025.

I am on a few Walther Facebook groups as well as the Walther forums. I am already seeing posts of people getting them from regular gun shops like Academy and Cabelas. Running price seems to be right at the 650 mark.
