I'm looking for a 3" EDC folder

I've had a Delica for several years that I like a lot. I haven't had any trouble with clip screws coming loose, though I'm a light user of knives. I did bend a clip on my Delica when I caught the pocketed knife on something getting either in or out of my car. I replaced the clip with no issues.

I've been thinking about getting a Native. Is there an on-line retailer folks like to use for their knife purchases? I typically don't hunt for the rock bottom prices, but I do like good customer service.

Spyderco has a MAP - Minimum Advertised Price - pricing structure so that smaller, more local stores can sell for the same price as big online stores and still make a fair profit. I see that you're in NW Florida. Knife Works out of Louisiana is a great family owned business, and big Knife Rights supporter. St. Nick's is an up and coming retailer with several stores in Alabama, so they're even closer to you. BladeHQ is out in Utah, but they've sponsored the Knife Rights Legal Blade app so that it can be made free instead of Knife Rights having to charge for it so they can pay to keep it maintained. Over the years I've also bought from Knife Center (MD/VA area), GP Knives (Southern IL just outside St. Louis), Indiana Knives (online and with a little physical retail space just north of Evansville, IN , owned by a super nice young guy who's working his tail off to try to make it in the industry), Cutlery Shoppe (Idaho), and probably a few others.

You might also check to see if you're eligible for Spyderco's OpFocus program, which offers a significant discount when buying direct from Spyderco - https://www.spyderco.com/resources/op-focus/.

Thanks for the recommendations.

I bought my Delica from St. Nick's in Foley, Alabama, and they are close.

I've been a long time satisfied customer of Knife Works. Always quick delivery and good pricing.

I don't know much about the steels. I want something legal for carry in Los Angeles so the blade can't be over 3" and must be concealed.
I also live in L.A. and have carried my Spyderco Delica 4 (blade just under 3" for over a decade now... No issues---stays quite sharp---no longer looks new as it's been used almost every day!

Just for information - My understanding is that in LA Municipal Code a fixed blade over 3" is prohibited from being carried, but there's no blade length limit for a folder being carried as long as it is in the closed position and concealed in LA. Leastwise in none of the named proscribed places like schools, courts, etc. So, if you don't clip a knife where the clip or knife can be seen you could generally carry any length folder. If you want to clip it where the clip may be seen then you'd be limited to a 3" or less folder in LA.

I've had mounts sewn in pockets in pants ever since I discovered the old Covert Khakis with their piggybacked pistol mag pockets sewn inside the standard side pockets. Great way to keep things out of sight and out of the bottom of the pocket.

I've had a Spyderco Rescue for close to 25 years and I'm impressed by the design and quality, however the blade is too long for Los Angeles.
I'm hoping to find a good, fast opening not liner lock knife that's legal in CA for under $90

Using the search and filter functions on Blade HQ of 2" to 3" blade, price $50-$100, and then selecting all the one hand opening types, along with selecting all the lock types other than liner lock (and non-locking, of course), yields nearly 500 results. That excludes some options under $50 that I'd put up against some folders that cost more than $50.

If you like your rescue, the Salt 2 is basically a rustproof Delica without liners. The tip on the Salt 2 is also more rounded, so it's stronger and a bit more rescue knife like. That would give you an LA legal knife that would be practical for other things like fishing, going to the beach, etc. It's just over your budget at $96 - https://www.knifecenter.com/item/SP...ng-knife-h1-serrated-blade-yellow-frn-handles. If you go plain edge, it'll bust your budget a bit, but get the LC200N blade version - https://www.knifecenter.com/item/SP...ng-knife-lc200n-plain-blade-green-frn-handles. Those recommendations are because H1 has better edge retention in serrated, and LC200N has better edge retention in plain edge. If you want a $30 knife that's no skin off your back if you lose it, or an overzealous cop confiscates it, then the Cold Steel Tuff Lite - https://www.knifecenter.com/item/CS...olding-knife-plain-blade-blue-griv-ex-handles is very Spyderco like, but with better build quality than Spyderco's similarly priced Byrd budget line knives. The Tuff Lite is also made in Taiwan vs. mainland China like the Byrds, and I like the friendly looking blue handle that I linked.

Thanks! I'll check them out.
