Outside bevel

Just a simple question I'm having a hard time finding an answer for. Why bevel the outside of the mouth on your case? Thanks.

If you're referring to de-burring, it's just that- to remove the burrs left by trimming so that they don't interfere with smooth operation.

-As far as I know, anyway.

Agree, burrs could hang up in your chamber if not removed.

Smooth operation and keeps them from flaking off and ending up in your actions. Dont like metal bits in my lever guns.

Object is to de-burr, not bevel.

If you over do it i.e. bevel it will lead to split necks
