That is, if they let me out of here at a reasonable hour. Love the double time Sundays, but rather be shooting.
Enough of that.
Well, the first go round with this new to me 45 Colt turned out to be so so. Using the 45 Colt practice loads I use for the Casull, the accuracy in this one was I spose ok. I did measure the throats with the good gauge pins borrowed from the shop, and found them to be a right around .450-.4505. A bit on the tight side, but before making the decision to have the throats honed, I had to crack off 80 rounds to see how she go. She had a bit of lead buildiup after that session, so I decided, what the heck, ill send the cylinder off to Mr Doug and have him loosen her up a bit.
Reckon ill find out sometime this afternoon how this goes and if it helps with the accuracy and cuts down the leading.
I'd like to slug the barrel, but unfortunately I don't have anything softer than 16BH to push down there.
I'm gonna ladder from 12.0 to 12.9 with some Blue Dot, not my first choice for powder in this cartridge, but I am in a unique situation where I have no unique, nor am I going to be getting any anytime soon. Or True Blue. Guess it's a run what ya bring.
We'll see how we go

What brand of Bisley are we talking about? Colt made the original and Uberti copied it. Ruger has made a large frame and a mid-size frame.

This works for me....approach with caution....but my regular field load for the Ruger Bisley is 13.6 grains of Blue Dot under a 255 SWC. I have shot 1000's of these out of my Bisley. They are accurate, clean shooting and are easy on the hand.

I guess I should add that this is a Ruger Blackhawk load only. Not for Colts or clones.

Actually did quite well. 12.7 and 12.9 loads did the best. Pretty clean on the burn also.
The best parr.....don't have the lead buildup I was getting before the cylinder job. Groups were a bit tighter once we got in the groove. A bit more recoil than the SRH with similar loads, but that was expected. Right about this point is about all I want from this gun.

All in all, glad I was able to pick it up when I did. Should easily get it to do what I need it to around here
