Old friend suicide...

You could have sold him a car, which he easily could have run inside a sealed garage with nobody else at home. Would people later destroy, or not want to drive that car?

A neighbor at Lake Winnebago MO, s.e. of Kansas City did this in 1973, my last year at Lee's Summit HS.

He had inadequate health insurance (or invalid?), huge medical bills, left three teenage children (i.e. a West Point cadet) and a wife behind.

This story reminds me why it’s one reason I place any firearms I want to sell on consignment at the LGS. It puts some distance between me and the new owner. Just Incase something bad happens.

Reminds me of a conversation I had with an LEO about selling firearms. He made a perfectly legal sale of handgun. Sometime afterwards, he was sent to see his Captain... The pistol was used in a crime.

Sorry for the loss of your friend.

I wish I had more wisdom to share with you but I'm at a loss for words. It would be tough to be in a situation like this. I guess its human nature to feel connected to things like this but I see no way that you could have known. Don't blame yourself, it was his decision.

So sorry to read this post. Suicide leaves people always thinking what could I have done, and that's because they want answers. Please, just remember the good, and you cannot blame yourself. Blessings to you, and the family left behind, and a peace over you.
