let me guess, late 20’s?I'm not afraid of the recoil but I'm fearful if the stock will hold up.

just wait till your back start hurting, then get grey hair!Wrong, just turned 30 lol.
I've had a bad back for over 10 years now, I've done way to many hard jobs that ruined my body.just wait till your back start hurting, then get grey hair!
I’m glade to see people using their #1’s!Here is my custom Ruger #2. Shilen med heavy barrel chambered in 6.8mm SPC II. My "go-To" Texas hill country deer rifle.

party pooper!Too much recoil will take its toll on a body. The worst effect is detached retinas in the eyes. Yes, African game loads are fun, but push it and you cannot reverse the effect. I have not experienced it firsthand, but I have read about it from those who have. Better to err on the side of caution...
nope! Seattle here... we don’t mess with TexasLaguna Park, TX here. Texas native. I’m open for Ruger#1 negotiations
I’m from the North Carolina, And always will be! very proud of my southern heritage and people. I’m here just to make money and retire early on some beach on the outerbanksUgh; you are in the armpit of the world, brother! Sell and move south; it’s not going to get any better up there

450/400 is a odd looking cartridge! I missed out on a few 375h$h! about 3 years about #1’s were plentiful and cheap!I got into a mania of No 1 collecting and have five of them. They include a 450/400 Nitro Express 3 inch. I have shot it, developed a load that should work and could hit to my rather generous satisfaction. Not fun to shoot and all my shooting work was from a standing rest rather than a bench. Recoil is 'quite enough'.
Others are .257 Roberts (International version), 7x57mm Mauser, .303 British and 9.3x74Rmm (seems to be the European equivalent to .375 H&H). I have not shot the 9.3x74Rmm yet. Don't plan to shoot it. All of them ran in the $1100 and up range. I like them, would sell most of them if someone threw stupid money at me.
