I am ringing one out now a 3 inch I have decided to durability test at least up to 2k rounds I am only up to 460 but no issues so far. Every time I go to the range I take the 3inch with me to put some rounds thru and very detailed about keeping a log.

My Initial assessment from WAAAAAAY back
http://www.dayattherange.com/?p=5719

Eleven months after my wife convinced me to visit the Kimber booth at the 2016 NRA show, I am finally on the range with their Kimber K6s revolver. The CCW world has been void of a 6 shot capacity revolver for a very long time. The last 6 shot CCW revolver was the Colt Detective Special which was discontinued around about 1995 and no one else has attempted this since. Today I fired 75 rounds of ammunition 38spl and 357Magnum through this revolver without any malfunctions. All groups were shot at 20 yards from a sand bag rest and both with 38 and 357 groups were consistent of 3 to 5 inches.

The KimberK6S 4 main features are a concealed carry revolver with 6 shots, adjustable sights, a completely dehorned revolver and the smoothest trigger I have felt on a CCW revolver.

The recoil of the Kimber K6S was actually very manageable. The 6 shot cylinder sports 6 recessed chambers along with flat sides instead of flutes, it has serrated black sights with the rear adjustable for windage. The trigger on the K6S is so smooth I would have thought it was half the trigger weight advertised. My RCBS trigger guage confirmed 8 1/2 pound double action pull. Kimber also changed the cylinder release, instead of the normal forward-sliding cylinder release, the K6s’ is a push button similar to the magazine release on a semi-auto pistol. Kimber also went non traditional on the cylinder, instead of flutes it features flats.

Caliber .357 Magnum
Barrel Length 2″
Overall Length 6.62″
Height 4.46″
Width 1.39″
Weight (unloaded)
1.44 lbs (23 oz)
Sights black pinned front, black dovetail rear
Action double action only
Ammo Capacity 6
Advertised trigger pull weight 9.5-10.5 lbs

Hope this helps

I think I could love a 3" model. I was about to pull the trigger on one of these but a Taurus Defender with the VZ grips became available. So to make a long story shorter the Kimber is still on my bucket list.

Old Centennial guy; been trying to warm up to these. They're kind of graceless with the straight line above the grip, but retain the Centennial advantage of a lower bore axis.
A 640 Pro is answering the same question for me; the big sights are a real advantage. Snubs are quite accurate if you can actually see the sights.

I own a Kimber Target II 10mm and do not own a K6 yet however it is on the short list. Somehow Kimber managed to become a better high end revolver manufacturer than high end 1911 manufacturer.

Losing a round, but I answered the question of the k6 with a Smith model 60 357 no lock and sp101 worked over by mossy creek.

Wouldn't own a Kimber 1911 so not jumping on this one. Trust the experience, and if needed, warranty support of Smith and Ruger (and also just can't get past the look of these, look "wrong" to me) .

If I were to get one, it would be the 2 inch da/sa.

I bought one, because it had all the features I wanted in one snubbie. 357, stainless, 6 shot, hammerless (yes, I know), good sights.
Turns out it has an excellent trigger, which is a bonus, for me. I also got Altamont grips, because those boot grips were a little too small.

It's performs flawlessly. But, as a concealed carry gun, I only put about a box of assorted .357 and 38 special thru it, and now it's "riding shotgun",
so that's hardly an endurance test.

But, IMO, if you're willing to part with the lettuce, the K6 won't disappoint you. It's well machined, has a crisp action, the nicest trigger I've ever used, great sights, and a very solid feel.

This thread is killing me since I read it last night. Kinda have a crush on the 3” and what happens to be in the display when I check for primers this morning? Yup...I’m legit afraid to go back in there right now but also very willing with logical encouragement.

I just bought a Colt KC 4” Target a year ago. My only .357. I also have a S&W Airweight in +p .38. Is this filling a gap for me?

I need a reason for this gun beyond my physical attraction.

Disclaimer: all negative posts for moving forward on purchase will likely be disregarded.

Well, you could use the Kimber DASA 3 inch as your primary concealed carry gun with the S&W as a back-up gun. Loading the Kimber with the same .38 special load in the S&W Airweight would give you ammunition compatibility. Your Colt KC Target probably doesn't conceal as well as the Kimber DASA 3 inch will. Just some thoughts...

I think would be a nice inbetween role, KC for HD, k6 primary and airweight backup or light carry. Ammo shares, it doesn't make fiscal sense to NOT buy it at this point.

/enablement off

:)

I went one up on that. I bought a K6s 2” DAO two months ago. I own a S&W 442 for the last 8 years. And... I have a S&W 340PD on the way. Actually scheduled to arrive at my FFL today. 12oz, 15oz, and 23oz all covered.

Can’t quote everyone that replied to my post. But you’re all correct. I was back in the shop the next morning and walked out with the 3”. Sunday morning at the range and feeling it out with loads I had worked up for the KC Target. Only put about 25 through it but a very pleasing gun to shoot.

it will become my primary carry with either Rem .357 125gr sjhp or Win Ranger .38 +p (the air weight load) depending on mood and how it handles either once I get more time in.

The KC Target will be the primary range and woods gun

The guns fit and finish is as good as the Colt. Probably has the edge on fit because of the chamber being recessed. I have not measured trigger but indistinguishable on feel to me SA or DA. The Airweight on the other hand, that is a “safe” trigger.

Overall I’m really pleased with the purchase, especially as I migrate to a revolver as my primary carry.
