Best all-around shotgun with modern electronic sight?

I've never been a shotgun person for a couple reasons - mainly because I'm cross-eye dominant and this is the one style of gun where that defect comes through. I can't hit anything by the traditional method of looking down over the barrel. On top of that, my aging eyes make focusing on iron sights a thing of the past.

I want to buy my first and probably only shotgun. It can be used for anything from home defense to joining my friends shooting clays. The most important thing for me is it takes a modern red dot or holographic sight, so I welcome recommendations there too. Fast acquisition of stationary or moving targets is important.

The first gun that comes to my mind is the KEL-TEC KSG. Between a top mounted sight and adding a bottom rail laser sight to shine on the target, it sounds like a winner. I'm just here to ask if there is anything else I should consider. I'm not sold on the bullpup design (especially for clays), so 'standard' recommendations are also welcome.

You can add a picatinny to just about anything. Can't go wrong with an 870 but KSG is fine as well. If you are wanting to use it for clays, the KSG is not it. You might look at the AK based shotguns out right now. They have those plastic AR looking (though not based on an AR) shotguns. I'd personally lean towards the AK style, but you might like the others better. But as I started with, an 870 is still solid and you can mount a picatinny to it and then anything you like. Myself, Model 11's are my favorite but you are limited to 2 3/4.

A pump shotgun is hard to beat. As far as mounting an electronic sight, I'm at a loss but I bet a good gunsmith could make some suggestions.
My oldest son is right eyed and left handed. He taught himself to shoot right handed and is about a good a wingshot as I've seen, or learn to close to close your strong eye. For me the biggest challenge was learning to keep my cheek down tight on the stock. Borrow a few different shotguns and shoot them before buying one.

Here is one example of a picatinny on an 870. The 870 is practically the AR of the shotgun world. So many parts and options, you can build one the way you like. Swap barrels between clays, deer and home defense. This mount is from Mesa Tactical, but there are many.

Look at the Burris SpeedBead set up. Zero modifications needed on a lot of guns; mount fits between the buttstock and the receiver. Excellent sight. You can choose between a 4 mil and an 8 mil dot. 8 is better for wingshooting in my opinion.

Pump guns like the 870 and 500 are falling out of favor with the youths nowadays. Clip fed AR style Turkish and Philipino made “tactica” shotguns are all the rage, along with multi tube design of all manners usually festooned with rails and plastic everywhere.

But I think a good pump gun is still usable and makes a good all around choice. Same for some proven semi automatics like the Brownings and Remingtons.
