Anyone heard of or use this company's products? I am in the market for some Kevlar and am looking at soft armor against ballistic plate carriers. I would like soft because I want it covert and something I can wear comfortably in hotter weather. I have not found many companies offering soft body armor that offers rifle calibre protection. So can anyone verify if these product is reputable. I typically try to get information from outside sources as I know too many companies who filter out bad reviews to blow up their reputation. When it comes to defending my life I leave nothing to chance

Well, looking at the thread title I thought about the Safelite jingle:

Safelite repair
Safelite replace.....

Remember Dragon Skin? If not, google it. No, for the news articles. The ones where they falsified testing and otherwise scammed the military, a lot.

Pinnacle, legalities aside, turned into Stealth Amor, sells something called Hexar which is pretty much just next-gen Drgon Skin, and looks a hell of a lot like the Safe Life. I'd accuse it of being a fourth shift version of the same, but I bet the Stealth stuff is actually identical, just two marketing arms. Addresses and so on make that seem likely as well, and ownership is a bit too vague to not be suspicious.

I would love to see some innovative ideas in armor, but I don't trust these folks as far as I can throw them, and everyone is WAY too vague about the inner workings of the system which raises flags to me. If I had an all new armor concept I'd show it all torn apart and why it works, and describe what it doesn't do as well.

People who know of armor professionally say run, don't walk, away from these guys.

To the OPs needs: soft armor does not protect against rifle threats. Light multi-curve plates are pretty comfy with a good quality carrier.

Honestly I have no experience in regards to body armor. Like you pointed out there are so many supposedly reputable dealers out there it's hard to know who to trust. In terms of protection I am mainly concerned with handgun Calibre threats. In an urban setting you're more likely to be mugged with a .45 than an AR-15. So an overt carrier might not be what I'm looking for right now. Could you provide names or links to soft armor providers with good credentials?

Um... I poked around a bit, and there are three issues that keep me from suggesting a list of things:
  • Mergers, and acquisitions, and branding changes and so on mean good brands from just a couple years ago are not the same NAME. Same products often exist, but good luck finding them. And I am not always up to date on everything.
  • Many makers (who do sell direct generally) and some dealers/stores think armor is only for LE/Government, so won't sell to everyday people. It is not legally restricted, but that's their choice.
  • Top brands are EXPENSIVE. All caps expensive. $1200 for a single plate. $900 for very good soft armor. There are cheaper at good quality but lots of expensive stuff that makes it hard to pay attention :)
I'd try to find a local dealer, like a uniform supply place, that doesn't mind selling armor to civilians. Then you can probably try stuff on and all that.

If you don't have a good place or still aren't sure you trust it, I know a guy who runs a store in western Indiana, does mail order no problem. If allowed (I forget individual forum rules) I'll post the link and you can poke around there, even if just to see prices and brands. He has a good selection of items across a broad price range, and the lowest end stuff is still professional quality, and safe (provides the protection claimed).
