It wasnt my first pick and its not SHTF gun, but its fun

Few days ago i asked my local dealers if they can order for me ARX 160. Sadly, they are currently not avalaible in all EU and first ones will be mayabe in november

But i really needed/wanted cheap plinker rifle. Instead of my usuall few-weeks-long-research and with wish for some "tactilac 22" i did buy one what is in almost every store over here. Hammerli Tac 1 .22LR

Its solid made AR15 like tacticool rifle, with no excesive flaws at range. Upper is metal and gun feels solid, just stock is little bit wobly at end. There is no recoil shooting this gun, its not opinion, its fact. It kinda lowers the fun, but improves usuability - even if its just .22LR, ability to quicly place half of mag in one place makes it viable (but not preferable) option if needed.

But there are some flaws, which are minor for its role, but for me it lowering "proper gun feel".
First - there is manual bolt open, forward assist and ambi mag release, but it doesnt work - its just to make it look like AR15. Ok, mayabe its usefull (ish) for AR15 training, but i just dont like non-working things on my guns
Second thing disqualifies this piece from SHTF gun category - for field strip you need to push classic pin, but in this case you cant use tip of bullet (because 22.LR) and pins on lower arent captive, so watch tham... then bolt itself isnt free to remove from upper and you actually have to remove barrel first. BTW manual specificly says, that if you do that, you will loose your warranty. So you have to clean barrel with bolt instaled and through chamber. Which is rerally tiny space and its also full of ledges and edges, so its kinda pain in the ass to clean it. Plus after 190 shots (but without previous cleaning) it was mess.
There is third thing, but only for left handed ones - chargin handle have safety, which is on left side only, so its harder to operate it from right side.

But as i said - we run over 190 shots, mostly HV, some HV HP and even standards and had just one malfunction - one round either bended and stuck in chamber or bolt hit it on side before it chambered. Either way it got stuck and went out after hard slap on other side of upper. Its very possible that it was malfunction cause by not-ideal mag load, since i was watching my mate doing tac drills while loading

The gun also have two setting to operate with HV ammo and with slower subsonic and so

Fun is in rapid firing and low ammo cost, but its not suitable for more than range time or training of manupulation with long rifle and such

Do you mean you can change rate of fire with a hex key ? Looks like a nice rig, fun and shooting cheap ammo is a nice bonus .

Well, yeah but not exactly. Its setting for ammo velocity, so youc an adjust it for high velocity or slow subsonic rounds. Didnt try it, but i dont think it will noticeable at fire rate

Seems like a nice gun if you're into tactical style.
If you don't mind, where are you that this is available?
Czech Republic. Its not bad gun, its fun and looks reliable. But ARX 160 looks like better choice

Forgott to mention trigger - i was shooting it side by side with factory scorpion evo 3 and trigger pull is litle bit better (thats mayabe just because calibre, didnt compare dry fire), for some it can be little bit hard

I understand now ,thank you for explaining .

That cleaning is really annoying...

140 more rounds and with new red dot sight, Hammerli kinda grows on me. No malfunctions, great accuracy, easy follow up shots. It does what it should do and only complains what i have are about field strip, cleaning and wobly magazines. That last doesnt cause problems, but it doesnt feel good.

Tested CCI Stingers (499m/s) and it worked fine

I had a Umarex Colt 22lr and it functioned great my biggest problem is the trigger. It's really too bad they waste that good barrel and put a crappy 6.5# plus trigger in the dang thing with little ability to do anything about it.
I ended up selling it off and building a dedicated lower with a Larue MBT2 trigger and a PSA 22lr upper.

Hammerli have same trigger (if im not msitaken, its internaly same gun) and i dont have problem with it - of course im used to such triggers. I would say it fits the guns purpose and even if its minus, its somehow mark of overall package.

On other hand, it wouldnt be too hard for Umarex to make lighter triggers for this line of guns, since they are almost all same

80 more rounds. Its fun on range but while rapid firing, it smokes a lot + cleaning is b.... Last night i have to use toothpick to clean some parts of action

From all appearances it appears to be the same as the Colt M4-22 built by Umarex and now sold under that name. The adjustment for different speeds of ammo is a feature of those guns and works well. I had the early Colt rifle but was talked out of it by my oldest great grand daughter.

Its actually very fun gun and i may buy some cheap laser or grip for it, or suppressor... i ussually say while im playing with or firing like madman on range.
Bollocks! I will sell it... im saying when cleaning it

I know that for most ppl, its just some ussuall stuff to do, mayabe even relaxing (for example i like cleaning my APX), but Hammerli is really annoying to clean and you will end up scratching carbon with toothpick because everything else is too big to manipulate in that tiny space, while its all ful of shelf, edges and other places obviously designed just to store mess. And while you are doing this chore, you realize that bolt-hold-open doesnt work just because button is just like half centimetre down from lever which holds bolt.
Its just that Hammerli screams its not proper rifle, its a toy, when you open it
