Since I got my Christensen Ranger and intend to use it as my "general use" .22 I figured might as well go all the way on making my 457 into an informal target gun.
the only major change was adding the boyds @1 thumbhole and a longer bolt knob since it already had a heavy barrel, and a trigger tuned to 2lbs.
I made some modifications to the stock to better suite my preferences.
I dished the right side where my trigger finger usually rubs on the sharp edge.
Ground the forend tip to a reverse angle to make the barrel look a little longer.
and removed some material from, and contoured the bridge of the stock to allow for a thumbs up grip instead of having to put it thru the thumbhole or laying it along the side of the stock.
Its also bedded to the action, but I'm not showing you guys those pictures because my bench is embarrassingly messy.....couple of my buddies were playing a game finding random objects in the pictures I sent them....
I decided the cute little round ball was too close to the stock for my comfort, so made a new knob from some random shop "clutter" it was tapped, had a stud screwed in and then turned in my drill press while ground to shapeish.....I also ordered a real replacement since aesthetically this one isn't real pleasing......so who can guess what its made from?
I stole the S-tac from it to go on my heavy Creedmoor after dropping that one on it scope last week, so cruised ebay looking for a used replacement. What I ran across was a Simmons Whitetail Expedition for 120 bucks. Ive had a few of these scopes and they are really nice for the cost, so instead of continuing the search I added it to my list of parts. Its mounted in Talley high .22 rings, which fit fantastically.
