I wanted to post about this rifle for about two weeks. My ffl buddy brought it in for me, and we only managed to get one range session in tho, so I havent really had much to say lol.

From my understanding the 457s just a refined 455.

It carries a very nice user adjustable trigger (mine is set at 2lbs, with no discernable take up or over travel), that rivals the nicest "worked" and aftermarket triggers I own.

The receiver is noticeably shorter than my buddies 452, or any of the other bolt rimfire repeaters ive owned or used. the bolt also has an interesting, and large....uh...lug thingy, that blends into the receiver lines and keeps the rather stumpy bolt from wobbling or binding.

Bottom metal is a step above any of the rimfires ive used to date. It strikes me as odd that something a simple as bottom metal on a rimfire would actually matter to me, but it does.

Finish is nice, tho nitrided and not blued. The stock and dimensions are also very similar to my 527, which is neat. Interestingly, and maybe because it does have a smaller receiver, it balances farther forward than my 527.

anyway this is all stuff you can find easily elsewhere....

oh biggest change is the safety is forward to fire. Id loose the locking bolt if i could get my 527 to do that.

Here are some pictures of the gun, and a few targets, as well as the pool cue case im using for spare barrels and stuff.

sporter barrel is snug in shaft side of the case....think this thing cost me 9 bucks or something 15 years ago.

I dont have pictures of the one group i shot with the .17 barrel at 100yds, but it was less than an inch.

And heres my sight in and single group with the .22 and cheap armscore.
I unfortunately had 8 rifles to work over last weekend, so really didnt spend much time with the cz.

I know a lot of folks bemoaned the loss of the 452 (buddy did for sure). The 455 was considered a good and interesting rifle, but not quite on par over all.
Im of the opinion that the 457 is not just on par with the 452s ive used, but better in a number of ways.

Ill hopefully have time tomorrow to hit the range and do a bit more shooting.

I have a 455 combo; both chamberings consistently shoot under an inch.

There’s really no basis for the ‘45x wars.’

I’ve owned all variations of CZ rimfire bolt rifles, save for the 457 – and all have been accurate and reliable.

Ive shot a few of each, but this is the first one ive owned, and theres some stuff i prefer on this one over the others. Im also sure that everyone has certain things they prefer on each generation lol.
Accuracy on all of the ones ive used has been good.

I pick up my 457 varmint in 17HMR on Tuesday and I can't wait. Putting a Leupold 3x9 40 rimfire on it and hope to pop some sandpoodles before it gets too hot.

I am very interested in a range report. I am very reluctant to replace either 452 that I shoot.

Its been hectic since i picked it up lol, still havent gotten to spend any real time shooting it. Im hoping to get to do some testing (which i have to do by myself, friends are fun but distracting) this week, maybe after work one of these days.

Don't know how I keep missing your threads, looks great, I like the checkkering they did. Looks to be a good shooter, I like how the barrels and may can be switched.
The guns very pretty. The stock isnt super glossy, but its not the flat oil finished of the 527 and the checkering shows more detail than the 527. The Nitrided parts are pretty nice also.

With the rush on guns lately, California DOJ, et al, are slow to release firearms so my pickup day moved to tomorrow.

BOOOOOO!!!!

yeah were having issues getting permits, and registration, done out here too. It took me a month to get my permit renewed, but at least we can still use our new toys while we wait for our registration appointments.
