Bear Claims Road Kill

I wouldn’t call it a “grisly scene” but if you provide an animal with free food and they don’t think they will be killed if they take it, they get it.

Can be an animal you hit by accident, fish you caught or your lunch you left in the truck, with the window down.

Bear is just doing a public service. Around here the local highway dept. has to remove road killed deer. I'm sure the bear enjoyed the venison instead of dumpster diving or going through someone's garbage can or attacking bird feeders. They're omnivorous and will take what they can get wherever they can find it.

I never used to lock my vehicle doors. Now I live in an area teaming with Blackbeard, I lock them religiously. Most of them who frequent residential areas have figured out how to operate the door latches of cars.

It amazes me how many people will feed bears and then get mad when the bear causes damage after they quit feeding them. Bears are wild animals not to be triffled with. Where I live we see 3 to 5 bears every year. We have never had issues with them other than getting into our garbage now and then. I just keep it on the porch until I head to work on garbage day. I have seen a 200 lb sow pick up a 150 lb road killed deer and just walk off with it. Bears are best observed from a distance. Good viewing.
