Joining a club i been wanting to get in. That has a 300 yard range. You have to have some one sponsor you. Finally ran into someone who is an officer there. Who is also an office at one of the clubs i currently belong to. He's going to sing me up tomorrow. For my 1st outing im just going to have some fun going for the 300 yard gong. I'll work on precision later. Taking my 30.06,223 and 17hmr along.

I hit the steel at 300. It was more of a thud sound. I didn't realize i was hitting it at 1st. One of the members said you hit. He said that thud sound is a hit. I didn't shoot the 17HMR. I could barley hear the .223 hits. I had to shoot prone. Never shot prove before. The benches were being used for a match. They had some smaller steel targets too. I missed them. I could see the dirt flying close to them.

Thanks Jeff.

Went back out this afternoon. I hit the steel silhouette at 230 with the 44 mag rifle. Had to hold over about 4 feet high . I tried some round gongs at 200 could not connect. I walked out to them after i was done. There 12 inch gongs. The big silhouette is about 4 foot tall. I took the 17HMR along too. I was hitting the gongs i think. No dust clouds. I did see them until i figured out what cross mark to use in the scope.
