Colt/Walther/Umarex 1911 .22 Government Model Mag Release

Just purchased one of these pistols and wanted disassemble it to polish up the trigger parts. Got everything taken apart but the magazine release is being a pain. I've removed them from my real 1911's without issue. Is there something I'm missing with this particular model? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Larry

Have you tried turning the retainer “screw” both ways? I recently ran across a 1911 clone that had the retainer set up backwards from normal.

You may not have the correct inward movement to align the catch to turn. With light pressure on the mag release screw push the release down and see if it finds the slot.

I was pushing up on the mag release as far as it would go before I tried turning the screw. Frustration hits after a while. I'll try again, thank you

In that case you over shot the slot. It's around mid way.

The magazine catch for the Walther .22 is exactly like a standard 1911.
Depress the mag catch ~1/16" and rotate the screw counterclockwise 90 deg. Reverse for installation.
